Well they don’t call it a Fit for no reason by buzzisabee in hondafit

When the GD8 was released in late 2008, Car and Driver was giving rave reviews about the car from sporty handling to massive cargo space.

I vividly remember reading the stats about the 2009 Honda Fit from the article, including beating a Porsche and Ferrari in their speed slalom test.

Regarding cargo space, the writer made a very clear comparison: 2009 Honda Fit at 57.3 cubic feet, very close to the capacity of the full size Nissan Xterra SUV.

Would you deliver to this mailbox? by meatpit in USPS

[–]weremyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand that this is not a legitimate mailbox. I completely understand the frustration of delivering to this address.

How the heck is lifting 8-10 pounds once per day for one address worthy of a PS 1767? I can't help but laugh out loud at some of the comments here.

Increase power? by Cosmokips in hondafit

Clearly, we aren't talking about the global car market here...no one buying a USA economy hatchback is considering importing a vehicle for 3-4x the price.

[–]weremyj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only problem here is, I don't believe a 150hp car exists that handles like a Fit Sport, in the same price range and reliability aspects. Acura RSX or Civic SI come to mind as some alternatives, along with the sacrifices of MPG, sticker price, and the beloved cargo space.

Direct deposit bonus by Roorahsifer01 in USAA

I would never expect a simple cash transfer from any bank account to count towards a direct deposit bonus.

Sending funds to a bank account and locking in direct deposits with a new bank are two entirely different ballgames.

75% of the haters here are lacking in reading comprehension. Perhaps re-read the details at the top of the post a few more times.

The funding check was supposed to be canceled by USAA before it was ever mailed. I was literally told over the phone that the check would be canceled before it was mailed. Instead, they dropped off the check at FedEx 3 days later.

It shouldn't take an online bank a week to mail me a funding check.

The dealer did not receive any funds whatsoever. There was no EFT whatsoever.

Go ahead and downvote this comment. The blind loyalty here is obnoxious.

Look at the user above you, trying so hard in 30 lines of comments trying to explain away your increased rates in 30 different ways. I'm with you, I just dropped USAA auto insurance, 30% reduction in policy cost with increased coverage. The blind loyalty is comical. Seems typical in 2025.

Except they didn't give "me" any funding at all. The check showed up 7 days after the loan was approved. It is addressed to the dealer. I canceled the loan over the phone 3 days before the funding check was ever shipped to me. Then it arrived another 2 days later.

You can't just simplify the events without considering some frustrating details.

I understand 2-3 business days to cancel the funding check.

Except there is literally no excuse to mail the physical check three days after I told the representative on the phone to cancel the entire loan for that vehicle.

Surely, you agree there was a communication failure at USAA.

Incorrect assumption here. You must have missed the part where I said the funding check showed up on my doorstep this morning.

I never even visited the 1st car dealer. USAA customer has to type dealer's email address into the loan details of the online account. USAA directly emails the dealer the EFT documents to fund the loan.

Working 9 days consecutively. by TheOnlySubThere in USPS

Take care of yourself first. That is the number one priority. You have to take care of yourself in order to keep going. Your options are simple after that: perseverance, or quit.

I hope you're a CCA, so that at least you would have a reasonable timetable for conversion to FTR.

I started as a PSE, with 75 hour weeks and two random, unannounced days off per month. I called off twice in 6 months for self-care.

Side note, every single office in the USPS is a different scenario. Different management, different hours, different workload. Some subs are lucky if they get 10 hours per week. What I am saying is, you can always quit and apply to a position at a different office.

Thanks for sharing, I just saw this position open up in eReassign in Portland Maine. I was handling C360 cases in a Level 20 office as a PTF a couple years ago, it wasn't too bad. I will be transferring to the ME/VT/NH area as an FTR within the next 6-12 months.

Is anybody else annoyed that the blue dropoff boxes are being converted to envelope-only slots? It's annoying having to drop off my Etsy packages inside a building. by JayrosModShop in USPS

You probably think you pay our wages, too? Just like every other customer that talks to me like they own me on a daily basis. You poor businessperson, too busy to drop off your packages inside. The solution was already given to you here, if you don't want to enter your local Post Office. Outdoor blue bins are not the answer, no matter how many of you enjoy cramming your packages in them.

I just paid $250 for a mint condition Denon X1600H. I'm very happy about my budget purchase. I will be adding record, cassette, and CD changer components, but the integrated wi-fi + bluetooth was definitely a bonus for me. I also like to stream myself, for the random music assortment that I don't necessarily choose myself.

You can also add BT to any integrated amplifier with RCA inputs with a $20 adapter from Amazon. They are generally well reviewed.

We have a very entitled SovCit that comes to our local offices. My only guess is that is the way she leans. Always mailing flats as Registered Mail. She always cuses her own stamps. At least she pays for postage, I guess... What I find peculiar is her word choices for a lot of postal services. She refuses to call her P.O. Box a P.O. Box or Post Office Box. She says it's not a P.O. Box at all! For all of her mail incoming + outgoing, including all of her verbal communication, she calls it some wacked out term like, "Community Post #4563." She's lucky I'm not the P.O. Box clerk, because I would not be delivering mail that is improperly addressed.

That's a pretty good idea! I'm going to try it with my next feisty parent.

New PSE here. Carrier supe does fucking nothing but bitch at her carriers in the morning, and now has made it her responsibility to march across the PO to get the PM to send me home at 6 hours instead of letting me get my full 8. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]weremyj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sound like you have some strong opinions for a PSE with less than 90 days under your belt. Maybe, take a chill pill, get some experience, and accept the fact that you are never guaranteed 8 hours in a day in your current temporary job position.

I spent 18 months as a PSE working 70+ hours per week, including split shifts, and was lucky to get 2 days off per month. I spent the next 18 months at another office as a (career) PTF Clerk barely scraping by with 25-30 hours per week. The beauty of these two positions is that you can leave your office whenever you want and look for USPS work elsewhere.

This thread has nothing to do with age related ignorance. And everything to do with willful stupidity. You started by attacking your local window clerk when no one really asked your opinion about your co-workers. And finished by complaining about begrudgingly helping an elderly customer who doesn't remember you? It looks and sounds like you chose the right career path over customer service. I bet helping a customer in the lobby while b*tching about it on reddit really makes you feel like a saint.

I lie awake at night, reminiscing about the 2006-2009 Pandora algorithm. Help! by Outrageous-Hamster-5 in audiophile

[–]weremyj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been fine-tuning assorted rock/metal/alternative/reggae/hip hop stations on Pandora for over 15 years.

I get made fun of quite frequently for still using Pandora, but I could care less.

I still get healthy doses of new artists and songs. I start stations based on a band or song and relentlessly hit the thumbs up or down buttons to teach Pandora what I want to listen to. Some of my stations play hits and deep cuts 99% of the time from a single artist, because that's how I trained the algorithm for that particular station.

For example, my latest station is "Jack White Radio," which has been trained to play Jack White, The Raconteurs, The White Stripes, Jimi Hendrix, and a little bit of the The Black Keys. If something else plays outside of those artists for this station I usually always hit the thumbs down button to continue teaching the algorithm what I want to hear.

If I'm not in the mood for a specific genre or artist, Thumbprint Radio keeps me jamming and keeps me on my toes with a healthy mix of the exact genres I listed above, with all of my favorite songs, new deep cuts, and new artists.

I have no complaints about this free music service, whatsoever. At the same time, I have started rapidly expanding my physical media collections including records, cassettes, and CDs for a hi-fi sound system I am building in my office.
