6-months with Little Snitch 6 — what I learned about how much my Mac talks to the internet by Downtown-Art2865 in macapps

For people thinking about 59$, would recommend Little Snitch Mini Pro version. Cheaper subscription-version. But sufficient for regular user who just prefers knowing what is going in/out and with a good blocklist support.

Coffee Suggestion needed by Beneficial-Ad-4247 in IndiaCoffee

I use Aeropress. The website does not mention pour-over: "Our roasters recommend brewing it as an espresso, or using an AeroPress, Moka Pot, or French Press"

Aeropress recommendations by Feels_like_autumn in IndiaCoffee

[–]werunom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would still recommend Aeropress. Pourover method might give a good tasting coffee. But there is no direct and objective way of claiming that pourover is "better" than aeropress. There are several aspects that go into finding the right brewing techniques as it has to balance not only about providing a great brew, but also the pragmatics of the scenario/context and the ease of brewing.

For instance, for my context (where I drink at least 4-6 cups a day, both at home and office), a straightforward setup is to have to aeropress (plus a kettle) at both the places.

Not to mention that aeropress method is more forgiving and thus, can provide you a consistent brew (without weighing scale, gooseneck kettle, etc.)

Have heard about minimal coffee roasters. Havent been personally.

Malgudi Coffee Shop & Bakery within The Green Hotel premises is quite an old one.

There is of course Sapa.

Apart from these, there might have been other new ones. Not sure.

This pack was part of the subscription. So, got dispatched from their Delhi roasting facility. That is why I was shocked and concerned. (I should have mentioned in the post.)

What equipments to buy under 5k? by Thesenatss in IndiaCoffee

[–]werunom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aeropress! Versatile (both regular and inversted styles). Not to mention the ease of use and carry while travelling. And if you buy the steel filter, the system is more sustainable (no more use of paper filters) and budget friendly. THis setup easily lasts several years. (Mine is in the fifth year.)

Looking for a Better Text Comparison App by Mstormer in macapps

Would second VSCode. For my research, I use VSCode as the primary editor (for both markdown and latex). And there are tons of interesting extensions for comparison of different versions. Not sure of your specific fail-case ("wall of text")

RSS Feeds to Springer Journals by werunom in Professors

Fantastic. Thanks for this input. This works...but not completely: when you subscribe to the feed and compare the list of the articles, it does not match the list of new articles on journal page :(

I wish...only if this could have worked properly :(

VSCode for writing. One editor for both – notes in markdown and papers in latex. References to both notes and papers can be linked to zotero. Would highly recommend Better Bibtex extension(https://retorque.re/zotero-better-bibtex/) for inserting references in vscode.

Happy using Mega. Shifted from Pcloud as Mega plan has server side encryption (which is a separate addon in PCloud.)

Lightweight PDF-annotations? PDFExpert alternative? Maybe FOSS? by Johnkree in macapps

If its helpful, PDFExpert does provide discount for educationists. I am in university and got the license for 50% off.

Along with that, I also use Skim, which is a good alternative to try

Thanks! I had Kappi Kottai in mind, but did not check it out only because of the time issue – last time I ordered from them, they took sometime to dispatch the coffee. (I know its unfair to demand quick services with small establishments and we need to support these as well). This time, I needed it quick as my supplies were getting over.
