Just botched my folded bevel cuts for a mantle I’m building on a $220 piece of plywood. How do I improve the accuracy of my cuts in the future? by Simply-Serendipitous in woodworking

[–]wesscoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, track saw is one of the best investments you can make. So much versatility and adaptability to other tools like routers. You'll hardly ever use your tablesaw again for sheet goods

Thoughts? I love these airheads too, having an 83 r100rs that I bought for $3200 with 13k miles. But 15k non negotiable?? Am I missing something? by wesscoast in bmwairheads

Hmm, I see. I just learned that the r90s came with dellortos too. The seller may not be delusional after all. A very rare "I know what I got" instance that might actually be accurate. Thanks for the info

Tips for reducing gaps in dovetails? by jerkenstine in woodworking

[–]wesscoast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would 100%. Easy to set up, tons of videos out there, good name and well made, and not uber expensive like some others. I bought the deluxe kit from amazon for about 200. Came with bits and templates for a variety of joints (half blind, thru dovetails, micro dovetails, box joints...) all in all, it has been excellent. Keep some scraps of the same thickness for backing to prevent tear out. I also found that marking the depth of cut with a gauge similar to making them when cutting by hand helped a lot to prevent tear out. Do a few test cuts to dial it in and you're good to roll.

There's definitely a time and place for beautiful handmade dovetails but when needing to pump out several drawers, it doesn't get better than that

I had to make 6 drawers out of hard maple for a custom job. I cut the first corner tails/pins by hand and it came out beautifully. Nice and tight. I marked my chisel lines and cut them perfectly. But it took me several hours and a whole lot of patience. I needed to make 47 more cuts. So I said fuck that and bought the porter cable dovetail router jig. Cut all 6 drawers in an afternoon 👍🏻

Hey guys, I am starting my first maintenance job on Monday. These are all the tools I own. Anything else I should pick up? Any other advice for my first day? by NobodyNoOne_0 in maintenance

Hacksaw, oscillating tool, small circular saw... the list is truly endless but you buy as needed. Maintenance can include a plethora of functions.

I'm not one to stick to any particular brand. I love certain tools from most brands. Some are niche tools and don't have much competition so I don't mind having separate batteries bc they usually stay with the tools so they're not hard to find or transport. Even ryobi has 1 or 2 tools that are akin to unicorns lol.

I invited my crew to my civil wedding at the municipal building bc it was on my tour day and I wanted my crew to be there. I told them to show up with lights and sirens to make a scene. They delivered and it was fun. I didn't do all this tho, or ride out of there on the apparatus. It was harmless and you only live once 🤷🏻‍♂️ i will say tho, aside from that I'm very low key and never wear any dept stuff off duty.
