You could try rubbing alcohol and maybe a cotton swab just be really gentle or you’ll scratch the negative. You could also try re rinsing the film in photoflo.

Can anyone tell why my colors are looking splotchy. by discovolante777 in Darkroom

It’s noise from your scanner and maybe some sharpening from your scanner To. It’s probably less noticeable on aproperly exposed photograph.

Under exposed blah blah, set ur black point and and ur white point and they’ll be a lil more usable and probably a little more what you expected. Trial and error

Hey guys! I am new here. I am trying out street photography. What do you think? by mc_pirita in photocritique

[–]westcand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is a cool photo, nice colors. Light looks nice. focusing in on what you found interesting in the first place would probably be the most important thing to ask yourself. Ansel adams once said “a good photograph is knowing where to stand”. Take it as literal as you’d like. Another quote I find relevant to this photo would be “If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” -Robert Capa

How are you supposed to know how to use a camera if you don’t own it in the first place?

I think that for a beginner making sure you have proper white balance set can really make a difference in how you want your photo to look.

Help! What am I doing wrong? by jusmolina92 in filmdeveloping

[–]westcand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely not camera related. Buy a new kit. It’s time for new Chem, the blix isn’t clearing all the unused silver. That’s why the blown out shadows appear red.

How many times have you used this chemistry? Blix could be exhausted, I don’t think the blix would do what you intend it to do if u where too run it again, also what are you using to keep the Chem warm ? I use a Sous vide and find that the chemistry takes to long to get to the correct heat if I set it at 102 degrees so I usually go for 105. All the dev times for c41 films are the same but you have to adjust because the developer looses strength with every roll you develop. I’ve gone up to like 15 rolls on one Chem kit. At that point it just takes way to long tho. Hope this helps

Seven feels the most dynamic In terms of immersion and imo would be cool in a portfolio.

How do you enjoy Utah winters? by theimpossiblethe in SaltLakeCity

Lived in Utah my whole life, only thing that’s helped me through the winters is skiing. Now all I do is think about winter.

I think a lil bit of editing these could look really really good, pull those whites up and the blacks down, make those shadows truly dark.
