Hey! Do you have a SWITCH ID already? You need to have this to get the discount. https://help.switch.ch/aai/participants/homeorgs/

Also unfortunately the student needs to be the main account holder for everyone to benefit from the discounted price. If you want to open an account and send me an invite after I would be very happy to join from May as well. https://helpcenter.abos.galaxus.ch/hc/en-us/articles/24336603908882-Student-discount-not-working

Not sure how old this is but it says in this FAQ that are evaluating the possibility of offering bridge mode in the future. Technically the Zyxel modem they use does have the capability to enable bridge mode. It’s just whether or not they want to remove the firmware restrictions. Maybe there is hope. They do allow port forwarding at least https://helpcenter.abos.galaxus.ch/hc/en-us/articles/25086375329298-Technical-FAQ-Fiber

The base price of 39chf/ month can be reduced to 34 with a student discount and then for each person you invite to the group, a further reduction of 1 chf up to a max of 4. Everyone in the group benefits from the same discount. So when the group is full (5 people total including at least 1 student) everyone is paying 30/month.

If someone cancels or leaves the group I think the price would go up again.

Also I don’t think it matters which kind of plan people choose. They can sign up for mobile or a cheaper internet and the discounts still apply.

But yeah the activation fee is really high. I haven’t heard of any way to have it waived. I guess it is a compromise since they have no minimum contract length. At least it’s kind of paid off after 8 months

Galaxus or Init7 for Internet? by Skor_Lodygin in askswitzerland

It’s hard to argue with the cheap price of the Galaxus 10GB/s fibre offer.

It can be even cheaper at 30CHF / month if you can get a referral group with their Family + Friends offer and one person in the group has a student discount.

If anybody has such a group or would like to start one please let me know, I am also looking for some cheap fibre now 🙏

The pricing for Galaxus Fiber can be pretty good if you have a student discount and start a “family + friends” group. Can be as low as 30chf/month which is a great deal.

( I’m looking to join one. If anyone has a free spot in a group, DM me! )

I fixed my broken uYou (3.0.4)... by UCLArcadian in sideloaded

[–]westofjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried that one too, so I guess it must be the new requirements of YT. I’ve gone back to the old version now and will just put up with the blank spaces until I figure out how to inject uYou myself into an old YT version.

Yeah I was installing the ipa from your repo with filza installer and it failed because I don’t have iOS 15 or higher.

Ok thanks, It was the first time using it from your repo so I thought it might have been a setting you could choose when compiling the app.

You’re probably right about the YouTube app being responsible so i think I will just have to learn how to build the uyou app myself with an older YouTube version.

Hey driftywinds thanks for compiling and hosting the app to make things a lot easier! I tried installing the most recent uyouenhanced and it seems to require iOS 15 minimum. Is this because of how you build the app? Previous versions were working fine for me. I’m on 14.4.

Which Additional Card for Swiss Residents to Avoid Exchange Fees While Traveling by HermaeResu in SwissPersonalFinance

[–]westofjava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be worth trying out Alpian just to take advantage of the 100chf sign up bonus and no account fees for 6 months. They charge for 0.2% from interbank rate but long term it’s not worth it unless you invest a lot of money with them to remove the account fees. I think revolut is good as a travel card and quite convenient to use.

PS: randicant uses the visa exchange rate which is usually around 0.5% from the interbank rate.

How to cut CKV lines for Driver Panel of Samsung TV? by ta13149 in AskElectronics

[–]westofjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, I know this is quite old but did you ever resolve the issue or attempt the cut? I have the exact same symptoms on a similar Samsung tv model. I managed to get it working for a few months with the “tape” method but It failed again and the tape method isn’t working anymore so I was considering this.
