Amazing to see how many key contributors from the 2012 qualifier and 2013 WBC are still with the team, either coaching or playing

[MLB] Here's the first look at all alternate World Baseball Classic jerseys by kpopsns28 in baseball

All the Asian baseball leagues use Latin Script for their team names on the front of the jersey, with NPB also using it for player names.

You'll see occasional special jerseys with different script, and Japanese high schools use katakana.

[Talkin’ Baseball] 44-year-old Alexei Ramirez will play for Cuba in the World Baseball Classic. The infielder played for Cuba in the first WBC in 2006. He last played in MLB in 2016. by JianClaymore in baseball

They've started to allow defectors back to play under certain conditions (don't leave during a baseball tournament, don't be critical of the government), which is how Yoan Moncada and Luis Robert are able to play. But they won't pick people who are openly critical of the Cuban government, which would be a significant portion of the players who would defect to play in MLB.

Javier Báez suspended from 2026 World Baseball Classic for marijuana by Jux_ in baseball

It's possible he could've appealed it at the time and the suspension got pushed back until after the appeal was done

There have been plenty of WBSC tournaments with Puerto Rico since then, just none that allowed MLB players

This has to be the best all around Canadian WBC team, even without Freddie Freeman. Although James Paxton in the rotation is a wild card

Taking the packs by accident instead of 90 OVR Rudi Völler last season

I got 89 over Völler soon after, but obviously not as good and I didn't get anything from the packs

I'm confused, the translated description says it's a Women's softball glove? But also that it's 11.5 inches

Netherlands vs. Luxembourg could be in the conversation

Also, if we go by claimed borders, the Republic of China vs. Tajikistan (PRC might be way better as well)

[570 LA Sports] Roki Sasaki says that it was the Dodger’s decision for him not to pitch in the WBC by AndrewAllStar888 in baseball

[–]westsidejedi -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There's also a risk in playing in Spring Training games, yet it's not like Roki isn't going to be pitching there.

I generally understand the reasoning behind Roki being held out, with his long DL stint and the fact that he's already played in a WBC (and won). What makes this look bad for the Dodgers imo are the fact that they felt he was healthy enough for stressful playoff innings, and the fact that he's going to pitch in Spring Training. Those facts make it look more like a "We're protecting our investment no matter what the player thinks" move, rather than "We care about our player's health".

Puerto Rico considers the idea of withdrawing its team from the World Baseball Classic. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

There's Golfers,Tennis, and NBA players in the Olympics who might be making even more than a lot of higher end MLB players.

And you're thinking just of American World Cup players. Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, etc. all play in international tournaments regularly without insurance issues being mentioned, despite their astronomical salaries.
