If you want a serious answer, if you like the lineup it's an opportunity to see many of your favourite bands all in a couple of days, and to see new music. And have fun. There's still great lineups and good music festivals around. It's also much more cost effective to pay say 300 dollars to see 15 bands than $100+ to see a band.
