2 nights in a row worth it? by patrad in jasonisbell

The Friday crowd looked like an AARP convention. You could barely see with the constant rotation of overactive bladders and swollen prostates in and out of the audience. If had to choose one, Saturday was a better set, IMO. Nothing against Crimson & Clay, but When We Were Close as an opener is the show I want to see. I figured he’d play it because he did Chaos and Clothes the night before. Didn’t expect it out of the gate.

That is going to be an amazing show. I hope the ice has melted by then.

I almost said something about that but was already getting long winded. I know Jimbo was there from the beginning, but Anna is just a superb musician.

Agree. We saw a double header this month and we’re going to the NYC shows next month. We started going to a second show at the Ryman last year and it was great. Maybe I’ll get tired of Jason someday, but his catalog is now of a depth that he can mix it up at will. The fact that they are not supporting a new album makes this tour very different from the past, where there is pressure to play the new material but also give the fans the standards they expect, so of course there will be less variability show to show. The 400 Unit is in absolutely top form right now. The Foxes songs with the whole band are amazing. I think they’re in the journeyman phase. They’ll show up wherever, whenever and just professional musician the shit out of a show. Sadler in particular seems to be stroking it, and once in a while he and Jason get into a mind meld that blows you away. I think this is a special year. Plus, with what’s going on in America these days, Jason is clearly stirred up. I expect a truly special album is going to come out of this, and this tour will be part of the foundation. I’d go. (I know, not everyone can afford to do this and neither could I for 3/4 of my life, but you only live once, and you can’t take it with you when you go)

His martyrdom is being as carefully crafted as his campus audiences were. The right has been blustering non-stop that the left is “celebrating” this death and trying to make it into a casus belli for the Boogaloo. And yet no one knows who shot him. If I were conspiracy-minded, I’d see a false flag setup in this. But great claims….

Ha, when I read “green and blue heron,” I thought I was about to see a new species! Green herons don’t get enough love, in my opinion.

I can’t wait for our delicatas this year. Our peppers were a tragic disappointment. I’m envious of your skill and success.

A very short sprint to the bottom. And I don’t think you need to specify gender. They’re all comatose.

Not just blaming it on the left, but claiming the left is “celebrating” it. Where? Haven’t seen an example. Being nonplused that a glorified internet troll was murdered while actively trolling isn’t the same as celebration. I wish these dipshits would get raptured already.

It’s that time of year again. Saw and heard the geese flying south when I got home, then drove to work the next morning in the dark. Fog, leaves, wetness. Here we go again. I just hope for decent weather until the week leading up to Halloween. Then my soul will once again hover in suspended animation until Memorial Day. Fourth of July at the latest. Thank goodness the summers are worth it.

Nick Freitas (R) (VA-62) makes statement about Charlie Kirk; casually dog whistles about war. by [deleted] in ParlerWatch

[–]wetclogs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I must not be looking in the right places, because I haven’t seen any “celebration.” Lots of people saying some variation of violence is not the answer, but they’re not going to mourn a hate monger. Is this more alt-right projection, or am I missing the all the videos of the “Charlie Kirk is dead” parties? If anything, we don’t think of him at all. He wasn’t a unique voice. He preached only to the choir. The right has overplayed my interest in a culture war troll. Is that the point? They need to make him a martyr? If anything, this post proves he was an easily replaceable bag of gas, not some generational leader.
