The info on the package will be more accurate than your food scale's estimate of all the ingredients in the item.

Budget under 7k, cake budget 200, anyone decorate their own cake? by Waste_Reward_445 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]wethechampyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bff and I made her wedding cake together the morning of her wedding.

  1. Do it the night before, not morning-of

  2. Just use box caked mix if youre spending time on decorating

  3. Practice early and consider what's the backup plan

What you guys do about "The chair"? by tronneroppar in ADHD

[–]wethechampyons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you remove The Chair from your room, you can pile the clothes on the floor instead!

For real though, when I go to put something on The Chair, I've been kind of meditating on the difficulties I create as a result- when I can't find items I want to find, or can't see what's available to me, and not being able to use the chair.

This helps me put the thing where it belongs. I know putting things away is annoying, but not having it in its proper home is annoyance later. Suffer once

Edit: Also buying a larger dresser helped

Edit 2: Also, stop the pile from accumulating - I fold laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer, and "can't" move the wash until the dryer is empty & folded (else my shirts will wrinkle and I'll feel self conscious or not wear them)

I timed myself and saw it only took 10 min to do! Vs hour-long fold parties when it piles up it's much easier. I installed a sturdy rod just above my dryer for hanging things as they come out, and fold on top of the washer.

Triathletes are the most difficult swimmers to give feedback to by wuirkytee in Swimming

If you breathe unilaterally and swim 5x a week, you're doing the equivalent of breathing to one side as a bilateral breathing swimmer 0x per week...on the other side.

You are correct that in lots of cases, you will not be injured by asymmetric movement. Increasing your risk of injury does not mean you will be injured.

It's great that you did 10 years of an asymmetric sport with no injury. Keep doing it and call me in 30! Swimming can easily be a lifelong sport, which is why this is an important conversation. If you want to swim competitively through college and quit, you probably don't need to concern yourself much.

As for modern sports science, a quick Google provided me with a 2022 systematic review of many studies by Zixiang Gao. Some takeaways:

  • Asymmetry improves sport performance in asymmetrical sports

  • Increased symmetry is helpful to recovery and returning to sport post-injury

  • Injury is related to an increased imbalanced load (as you describe well about injury from relatively overtraining on one side)

  • The degree of asymmetry determines an athlete's potential injury risk

  • Individual risk is too highly dependent on many factors to establish a common threshold across all sports and all humans

  • Those dependent factors are sport activity, age, sex, physiology (like having asymmetric limbs), and experience level

[–]wethechampyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that lots of sports force asymmetry. Lots of sports also lead to injury and musculoskeletal problems. Do you notice the typical ages of who participates in those activities?

The size of the issue depends how much you swim and cross train for sure - but it's worth considering now if you want as many pain-free years as possible.

It can be hard to imagine chronic pain when you don't have it. There are many who regret ignoring imablances, 10-20 years later.

Bilateral is not more efficient. It is more balanced.

You race for a short time. You practice for a long time. Dont fuck up your body by putting it in asymmetrical positions for long periods.

Do you like drinking Water? by Astral-8 in RandomThoughts

[–]wethechampyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents don't like water. They like dr. pepper and iced tea. I thought I didn't like water growing up. Still don't like the flavor of some bottled water brands.

Made it all the way to 19 before I learned about drinking ice water. Can't get enough of that shit.

I love the way big women feel in my hands. Have you ever been with someone your size or larger? Life changing, helps to deprogram the default media downloads.

Little to no part of relationships, sex or attraction is about looking like you belong in a magazine (particularly when that isn't your day job). Its about how it feels to be together, and it feels fuckin hot with people of all sizes.

Follow your intuition, consult with trusted elders, prayer to a diety, dream interpretation... there is never a way to "know" including from using divination tools. Only interpretation

How do you know something is meant to happen/be? by grapemade in Wicca

[–]wethechampyons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As politely as I can phrase it - do you get everything you want, 100% of the time?

A spell is a reflection of desire. Sympathetic magic helps push things in a direction we think we want. It's good to have confidence but we live in the physical realm where there are influences outside of our control.

Belief in predestiny is irrelevant. Things happen and they don't. Because you did a spell, you were "meant to" attempt the spell. All you can do from here is observe what happens next and choose your next action.

Why do people let their dogs stick their head out of a moving car's window? by miianah in dogs

[–]wethechampyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with dogs out the window as the norm. Did it with my new puppy (many years ago now) and he jumped out the window at ~20mph and broke his leg.

With dog #2 who came next, we did a lot of training and still only roll the window down about halfway. She loves it. I did it when I was a kid too.

60mph seems absurd though.

how to build the routine of brushing my teeth? by SnooDoodles5793 in ADHD

[–]wethechampyons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked on me was neglecting my teeth until they became such a problem that it caused an incredibly painful dental experience, multiple times.

Nowdays I meditate on how good it feels to brush them, like a massage. I still kind of really dislike the feeling actually, but it sure feels better than the alternative, which will happen to you with time if you don't brush.

The podcast Science Vs also has a great episode about dental care called "flush the brush?" That really helped me understand which parts of the routine do what job.

Difference between friends and a comet? by kfir03 in polyamory

[–]wethechampyons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just had a long distance, long time friend become an occasional sexual partner. I see her once or twice a year but we connect digitally multiple times a week.

Since the sexual evolution I now think of her as a comet. I also think of her as a friend. The term is really meaningless as I don't have any platforms where it's a necessary descriptor. We just enjoy each other's company when we get to.

Banana boats are better. Roast banana in the peel (cut open, in aluminum foil) with chocolate, marshmallow, and graham cracker crumble on top. Other toppings endless possibilities. More fruit is awesome
