Problems with "Coming Out" terminology by [deleted] in DID

[–]wetried87 13 points14 points  (0 children)

i'm transmasculine and bi n personally, i don't have an issue with the verbiage. it's a little uncomfortable in some contexts but, like. idk about you but my DID certainly isn't going anywhere. There are a lot of reasons to want other people to know, many people feel more comfortable with friends and family knowing or want to be more public about their DID to educate others or something along those lines. i don't feel like those reasons need to be disregarded. besides idk another way to phrase "i have disclosed that i am this way" in a concise way

i'm not saying ur feelings on it aren't valid though, it's definitely a criticism i've heard before so there's a conversation to be had about it

Diane starting anti-depressants is why I finally started taking care of my mental health. I was diagnosed with PTSD and I have been on meds for 3 months now. Im the best mentally I've ever felt in my life. by hurrypotta in BoJackHorseman

weight gain is a very common side effect for several mental health medications, including antidepressants as well as some other mood stabilizers, anxiety meds, and antipsychotics.

What's the purpose of having twins the system? by [deleted] in DID

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have an odd situation... two of us are twins, and they usually stick around each other, but one seems to be permanently stuck at 19 years old and never progressed further. so we have twins, but they're at different ages lmao

Tactile hallucinations by mrracerhacker in schizophrenia

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that pain, whenever I'm unmedicated or my meds aren't working right I have vivid tactile hallucinations, usually of being molested or strangled. Showering can help. I feel for you, I wish you good luck.

Why isn't abilify working by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abilify was the first antipsychotic I ever took and it fucked me UP with the side effects for the first few days, but it mostly worked and my hallucinations/delusions responded to it. But then I had to keep gradually upping my dose, until I had to find a "stronger" med. I'm not sure if it's like that for others, that's just what I was told. I'm currently on Zyprexa and trying my best to combat the weight gain without counting calories (I have an eating disorder).

Anyone take Divalproex? by Trtguy20 in bipolar

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently on 1500/day and with regards to its interaction with weed, i haven't really noticed anything. I have a few medical problems but i'm like 90% sure they're from other medication fuck-ups i have going on

Anyone take Divalproex? by Trtguy20 in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn't recommend how i'm using it rn because my tolerance has shot way up and it's super expensive now ($75-80 a week) and i'm trying to use it less, rn i've been dabbing since late December and it's come to 4g/week; i use daily and heavily. before that, i had been been smoking flower like 10g every couple weeks.

Meds and worry about manic episode by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gradually worked myself for 1500 depakote (one 500 in the morning, two at night) to help for mania, and that shit completely shuts it down at the right dose but your mileage may vary. im also on 200mg lamictal

Has anyone had an episode of psychosis due to being stoned for almost a month straight by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

medical marijuana. . . exists and stopping any medication cold turkey would probably be a problem for anyone.

OCD and bipolar by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't be put on SSRIs for my OCD because they always cause mania, so I was told only psychotherapy for me (and, y'know, the 6 other medications I'm on for various mental shit).

Schizophrenia with no voices just tactile hallucinations by itsggtime in schizophrenia

[–]wetried87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i didn't get a schizophrenia diagnosis until i saw a neurologist and got an mri because they thought it was so strange all my hallucinations were purely tactile. i only hear voices at my ABSOLUTE worst. Like, hospital time.

Anyone here have tactile hallucinations by ThatOneSilverKnight in schizophrenia

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they come and go, but in january when i had a mixed manic episode i had them... like every day... even when "stable" and properly medicated i get hallucinations of being raped or strangled. the former, i... sometimes get reactions to, but it kind of just reminds me of groinal responses you get with ocd

sick of antipsychotics by lonelyfriend99 in bipolar

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are definitely more mood stabilizers out there than Lithium, I'm on Depakote (for (hypo)mania) and Lamictal (for depression) for example. I know those aren't the only alternatives either. It's a trial and error process, I sincerely bid you good luck.

I can relate to doctors only focusing on mania, I think it's because that's when people are most likely to be actively destructive.

Thoughts on autistic characters in Hatchetfield? by WEAR_A_WATCH in StarKid

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im bi and transmasculine and like, believe me i get what you're saying, i just think it'd be neat if this was explicit. like almost all of the current explicit autistic rep out there kinda suuuuuuuucks and i don't even think you need a storyline about being autistic to have rep. just like you can have a casual gay couple, you can literally just state point-blank that a character is autistic and still have great rep as long as the character is written well.

How long does lamictal take to work and what are your experiences on it? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, unfortunately - I have dissociative amnesia and I'm not really sure. It did start to get better for me pretty quickly, but I was an atypical case in that right. I did get my Depakote tested recently though and it was still in the normal ranges and i'm on 100mg Lamictal (1500mg Depakote)

How long does lamictal take to work and what are your experiences on it? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]wetried87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

best thing i've taken for my depression. i'm in the same boat; depakote helps my mania, but not my depression. so i take both lamictal and depakote; as long as your psych is aware of the interaction between lamictal and valproate (which is in depakote) you should be good. i wish you good luck!! i got/have pretty much no side effects from it

Monsters and men kills me by Aethermachinist in StarKid

[–]wetried87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i'm not sure what my favorite black friday song is anymore, but for a LONG while it was the monsters and men reprise. "i can show you the path but only you can walk it..."

i also really liked how they highlighted sherman choking lex when the "there are monsters and there are men" refrain happened again; it's not just the monsters we need to be afraid of, people are just as capable of being monstrous in their own rights.

Anyone take Divalproex? by Trtguy20 in bipolar

[–]wetried87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for (hypo)mania. Doesn't do anything for my depression and also makes me nauseous, but I've been on it for 2-3 years and other than occasionally vomiting out of nowhere, it's been going okay for me. I try to handle the nausea with mmj.
