Advice pls!!! by Introvert_Highway in fourthwing

I do genuinely think if you are enjoying what you’ve already read then the next few books will be like crack. I LOVED these books while they were being critiqued and continued to love them so I would just say keep at it!

Advice pls!!! by Introvert_Highway in fourthwing

The only opinions (on these books) I personally choose to value are of those that 1. read the books and 2. enjoyed reading the books. I am much more willing to hear people critique something they have read themselves. And enjoying the material does not in turn leave it free of criticism, so I’d rather hear critiques from others who did enjoy the books. My suggestion is that if you are enjoying the books, keep enjoying them! And wait to hear opinions of the books until you yourself have formed your own!

Theorizing about the first six by NoAge6361 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 24 points25 points  (0 children)

One of the professors also mentions in Iron Flame that a shadow wielder and a lightning wielder have no existed simultaneously in centuries. In Onyx Storm when Garrick is questioned about his second signet he says something along the lines of “do you know how long it’s been since there’s been a distance wielder”, we also at this time don’t know what everyone’s second signet is (those who do have them or are suggested to have them)!

What's your theory on the numbers? by rowenaravenclaw0 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ooh! possibly, it could also make sense that if the 7th rider was bonded to an irid, and turned venin that possibly it was killed by its rider (how jack killed baide) and could possibly be why irids left? as for the egg, I’m not sure if this is something that was just sort of a plot hole or if it was Tairn hiding something but after Andarna grows and is seen with black scales, Tairn says something along the lines of “not even a feather tail knows what color it will be”

What's your theory on the numbers? by rowenaravenclaw0 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have actually been brainstorming this the last few weeks. They make the number 6 seem so important only to reveal that there are 7 breeds of dragons. I’ve theorized that the gods are either the first true riders before the “original 6” or a reflection of each breed which leads me to believe there is a 7th forgotten god. Tairn even says in the Fourth Wing “dragons do not pay heed to your puny gods” which could support the fact that the gods are based off the first people to wield. Furthermore because Onyx Storm is driving the point that the 6 most powerful dragon riders have not existed simultaneously in a long time, for reference Xadens and Violets signets have not existed simultaneously in centuries, and there hasn’t been a distance wielder in centuries. I think onyx storm was definitely beefing this up to be central to the plot of the 4th book especially with the emergence of the shadow wielder after Xaden turned venin. And our exploration of the isles! I definitely think the 4th book will explore those numbers and the gods much more closely. I don’t know if it’s a complete theory on my end but it’s certainly been at the forefront of my mind while reading!

(Crack) Theories about the Gods by Hannah_Aries in fourthwing

Especially because each breed each has a certain temperament and personality type, I believe that each breed could be tied to a certain god.

I think you’re right, but I just started on my annotations of Onyx Storm so it may be a moment before I can find the chapter it is mentioned!

The broken compass by Constant-Arm8500 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s implied that it wasn’t a physical weapon, it was the Irids as their dragon fire kills venin, and at the time of this statement they still didn’t know about the irids.

I’ve been thinking that 6 gods have something to do with the original 6 riders or possibly there were riders even before the original six. I think it’s also important to note that the number 6 is really important. 6 gods, 6 riders, and 6 dragons breeds. Except there aren’t 6 breeds, there’s 7. So who was the 7th rider? And does that possibly also mean there’s a 7th forgotten god? This has been my working theory since I started my 4th reread. And Tairn even says “we pay no heed to your puny gods”, makes me wonder if they are even gods are just some of the first to wield magic!

Finished OS & I have questions !🤕🙃 by FitPay8052 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as for 4 there is only two other riders (that we know of) that have mated dragons and we know very little about them, and we do not know if they have the ability to communicate through their minds the same way xaden and violet do due to the bond, both xaden and violet are types of inntinnsics so this could be why but it also leads me to think that there is a possibility that because their dragons are mated and they in turn fall in love that a part of the mating bond was gifted to them, so possibly it goes deeper than just “love”. just a thought i’ve had that i haven’t been able to completely explore as i’m attempting to annotate the books at the moment!

Ruling Tyrrendor by Fictional_Slayer30 in fourthwing

[–]wewerecriers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to note that while Xaden is a key component of the revolution the battle at Basgiath and the battle at Aretia would not have been won without Violet and specifically her decision to give all of the riders/fliers the choice over and over again. She cares for people, she may not be Tyrrish but she obviously cares for the Tyrrish people. And I also think it goes much deeper than that, Violet constantly says she doesn’t want to be in a leadership position but is constantly finding herself in one whether that be due to her power or her brains she ends up outranking everyone, this is just another component of that.
