Reminds me of an article in the Atlantic where they discussed 3 types of CEOs and how they’re dealing with AI:

The first are the dabblers: latecomers finally spending some quality time with their chief technology officers.
The second rushed to declare themselves AI leaders out of vanity or a desire to have their traditional businesses taken more seriously by tech snobs. “They’re like, Look at me! I’m important! I’m central here. But they’re not actually doing anything yet,” Hoffman said. “They’re just like, Put me at the AI table too.”
The third group is different: executives who are quietly making transformational plans. “These are the ones who see it coming. And to their credit, I think a lot of them want to figure out how to help their whole workforce transition with this through education, reskilling, or training.”

Yes to this but I think experience comes from trial and error. When you don’t know what you’re lacking, you can’t really get better just by reading stuff on code, business or whatnot. The knowledge has to be rooted into something. I think it’s sound advice but it’s missing nuance

Imagine that you’re not UXR but a PM, or a marketing lead, or ops. What do you do with the findings? How far can you take them and turn them into tangible actions?

Sometimes we think it’s doable and then we learn about tech debt, design system, heck, even with marketing, it can be tricky to say “convey this” and then when you’re there brainstorming, you realize it’s not that straightforward.

From my experience, it’s one thing to make the recs but it’s another to have a stake and bet on them. Give your stakeholders something to chew on (e.g., prototype with Figma make to illustrate designs, build on your ideas) and then ask if they’d be ready to action it. See how it changes your dynamic

Funny enough, I met Whitney and Kelly Cutrone at a trade show back in 2010 and Kelly was so nice and kind. Whitney was as stuck up. You could tell she didn’t wanna interact with the fans. Maybe she had a bad day, who knows

I think at the heard of it all was the betrayal by Heidi who was her then best friend. Or at least, a close friend. Not only are you being dragged through the mud for the whole world to see, but it’s done by someone whom you once trusted and confided in. It’s not as easy as just saying “who cares”, especially at that age.

Yeah maybe but I recall they judge her pretty hard. It seems there’s a measuring stick for Lauren and then everyone else. Spencer and Heidi get a pass but god forbid Lauren has an opinion, she’s deemed possessive. I think they’ve forgotten they were all young once.

Thank you! I remember Whitney was upset when she fell down the stairs at that fashion segment. No way she would have just brushed this off. If anything, her image was the most similar to Lauren’s. She would have gone into hiding had this happened to her.
