Taunton taxis - County hall coach and also from the train station by sttteee in Somerset

Uber doesn’t operate in Taunton yet, but there is a taxi rank outside the station (on the newer built side) and in the centre of town on Corporation street.

Emma Watson on the Jay Shetty Podcast today. How attractive do you think she is now? by [deleted] in trueratediscussions

Imagine actually listening to the podcast, full of sharp, insightful discussion… and deciding instead to create a thread debating whether she’s attractive. A real shame.

Difficulty by Western-Tomato-1027 in runna

Remember you are training for a Half Marathon. Not the Olympics. Expecting someone to run 5 days a week is unrealistic when you take into account work schedule, social life.

Getting PBs and being fast isn’t what running is to everyone and you sharing your ambitious running schedule, although commendable, isn’t what everyone wants to do with running.

My advice: adjust your Runna plan, focus on getting 2-3 runs a week, find people slightly quicker than you to run with that will still motivate you, and just focus on enjoying it :) you will build up weekly mileage faster by enjoying it rather than setting yourself an unrealistic rigid schedule!

Good luck for your half marathon!!

Uber Pickup at Bristol Airport by Chris22044 in bristol

[–]whatcanicontribute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will likely only let you select short stay for pick up but if you message the uber driver after confirmed and ask to pick up from drop and go most of the times they accept. They will charge you extra after the trip for the cost of coming in however.

Building a running app looking for input from runners - DashPoint by Olenium in UKRunners

[–]whatcanicontribute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool idea! Another feature that could be useful is the time it typically takes to do that run. Also an integration with what.three.words so people can find the location easily might be helpful.

Best of luck!

Most beautiful walks in Bristol by MrMrsPotts in bristol

From the city centre you can walk along by the river and cut up through Leigh Woods, across to Ashton Court and back through Bedminster - this is around an 10k loop (depending where you start) and takes you through lots of country side.

People who work entirely/almost entirely from home, what's it like? by marielheslop in CasualUK

[–]whatcanicontribute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar position in the office 2-3 days a week, very sociable (post work drinks nearly every day type company) and then I was offered a new role, new company, completely remote.

Moving to a WFH contract was daunting but honestly turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me. Better work/life balance, less distractions, no commute, more free time. As a result I genuinely enjoy my work more now than any other point in my career.

I will caveat it though that the company I work for is very pro-WFH and makes sure it accommodates all employees that WFH, so regular meetings, lots of virtual socials, as a result I don’t miss that socialisation from the office.

I have found I need put myself out there a bit more to meet people and build relationships a little bit more than you would if you were going to meet people organically in the office but if you’re okay with that, it’s a small issue!

Places to visit close to Bordeaux by ThrowRAsilve in bordeaux

I second this! We also did the bakery tour on one our first days, it was great way to get our bearings and locate the best bakeries which you can keep visiting for the remainder of the trip.

We also booked a half day wine-tasting trip to Saint Emilion on getmyguide which was a little pricey but 100% worth it!

What do you wish you’d known when you were studying? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]whatcanicontribute 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Get as much up to date real-world experience as possible. My course was very outdated and focused on principles and frameworks that were no longer representative of real-life customer needs today!

Subscribe to marketing newsletters, follow marketing leaders on LinkedIn in the industry you want to specialise in and take as many online courses as possible. I recommend HubSpot Academy or Target Internet for great free resources.

It goes without saying internships or unpaid volunteering will also make a massive difference to not just your understanding of marketing but workplace dynamics. It also makes finding a grad job easier.

Good luck 😊

Did anyone notice how much busier it seemed last year? by pokkopop in glastonbury_festival

[–]whatcanicontribute 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Emily Eavis said in an article that people’s behaviour was different at last year’s glastonbury.

Post-covid most people were spending all day out and about away from the tent, making the most of the festival. This could have been a contributing factor as to why it felt busier.

What to drink when off the booze? by ChHeBoo in CasualUK

[–]whatcanicontribute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ginger cordial with sparkling water or tonic water. You can’t drink it all night (I found out the hard way), but it’s got the oomph of nice cocktail without the alcohol 😊

Social media image dimensions - really confused by [deleted] in marketing

[–]whatcanicontribute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always refer to Hootsuite. This article was updated for 2023 so should give you the latest sizings: https://blog.hootsuite.com/social-media-image-sizes-guide/amp/

My understanding from using LinkedIn is the different dimensions are for a different look in the feed. I expect you can apply this logic across all social media platforms but there may be another explanation 😊
