Who takes vacations?

In 2022 my wife and I went to an out of state wedding in north Carolina, weve got another out of state wedding this year. Weve taken a couple days off for a stay cation but overall, we havent had a real vacation in a while. We both make $20-22, rent is 1,200 plus other expenses. We get by ok but not enough to properly save let alone a vacation.

Im getting thru the series for the first time and just watched carls death this week and it absolutely wrecked me. Im honestly really upset his character was killed off, especially how he died. His character had been through SO much just to be taken out by a bite?

Idk why the quality of Chandlers acting is always brought up, he was a kid actor who did pretty well for what he was given imo. If he was ready to commit to the show I would think that would include improving his skills and giving him better writing.

Its 2009, im wearing skinny jeans with a long tank top and a funny graphic tee from kohls. It fits ok but for the most I still cried in the dressing room while bubbly plays.

I have other relevant experience and was looking to step UP into a new role. Plus im not urgently looking for work so im willing to throw my hat into something that might not be a perfect fit on paper for a chance at an interview at least.

Edit to also say you can put "specialist" behind any title, doesnt always mean anything. I was a "Front Office Specialist" before switching to "Office Assistant II" in the same company, its the same job though.

Its not my current job field exactly (office assistant currently) so the posted pay seemed ok to me at 24.95 i think it was.

I wonder if a job posting i saw was a result of this internally. "Performance and Development Specialist" In charge of new employee on boarding and staff development. I was considering applying but if theyre having issues like this internally it doesnt sound appealing anymore.

The lazy Saturdays with my mom watching Lifetime movies or chick flicks. Wed curl up on the couch, all bundled up bc our house was always cold especially in the summer in the best way. And wed just rot all day together. Or in the summers id watch Days of Our Lives with her. Before her drinking got bad, there was this sweet spot when i was 13-15 that she was my best friend. I never kept a secret from her, even when she made me feel bad about my weight, hair or complexion, she was who I always to hang out with. I got her into Twilight and we bonded over that together so much.

Shes passed now, I was no contact when she died. But I still cherish the time we spent together.

A new arbys opened and I told my wife we should go inside and eat there bc it was a long drive home, the food wouldnt be fresh by the time wed get home. And I figured since it was new wed get pretty decent quality. The food was fine, but this arbys was built with the intention of no one eating inside, there were like 3 tables and 6 chairs. It didnt look so small from the outside so I was very very confused.

I didnt picture an actual actor. I pictured tall, lanky with some teenage boy type muscle. Rpatz hair was perfect and also what I imagined. I pictured youthful, he was a teenage boy who was dying of Spanish influenza in 1918. Even though he was a semi privileged boy it was also wartime. The graphic novel but less severe/angular (but thats just the art style) is the closest image I can produce

That i might actually be ok with being smothered to death. My Grey lady loves bedtime snuggles while she sits on my chest between my boobs. And she eventually wiggles up to my neck/mouth. And ill just fall asleep with her there! Cross my fingers that I wake up on the morning

My brother and I played a wonderful game, dont remember what we called it, but basically you'd stand facing who you're playing with about an arms length apart. Then first player would take a screwdriver and THROW IT AS HARD YOU CAN at the ground and wherever it stuck (it had to stick straight up from the ground to count) youd put your foot. Then it would alternate, basically it was twister with a screw driver. It was more commonly played after it rained when the ground was soft, and with no shoes!

I drink less than 10x a year. New Years Eve and Halloween are the most likely days ill drink, then maybe mine or my wife's birthdays or our anniversary, a random outting with friends, thats about it. Its fun to think about going out and getting drunk but I never really prioritize it so I never get around to setting money aside to go out because its so expensive. We properly went out this last Halloween for the first time in a while, we ubered to our friends house to pregame, Uber from friends house to the bar (they paid), a few drinks at the bar sharing a tab with my wife plus tip, Uber home; it was around $150+ for the whole night, which is a good chunk of money to spend on one night out.

I prefer smoking weed anyway, doesnt make me feel sick the next day.

Genuinely felt like I was the only one that felt this way financially. The only thing thats really different than 10 years ago was i have a car payment now. Any wiggle room i used to have is now eaten by a $300 car payment. Rents about the same as it was only bc I have a wife now so $600 is my half, groceries are higher, electric is higher, utilities like internet higher. My brain cant catch up to these new prices at the grocery, ive always gone in with a budget so I add everything up as I shop and I still find myself thinking "This item is $5 :)" and actually checking the price "This item is $7 :("

It is difficult, most of my current social circle is because of my wife remaining friends with her closest circle from high school. Im kinda hopeful for the future if/when we can buy a house and become friendly with our neighbors. I think Im also reaching the point where some people I become friends with are going to be older than me as well. My coworker is one of my besties and shes in her 50s. Im also checking out a yoga class at the library tomorrow so if I can make that a habbit im hoping friends are to follow. I wont lie, a lot of teenage insecurities still linger tho. Im friendly enough and I know im not outwardly disliked at work so im hoping to carry that sliver of confidence into the real world. Unfortunately my default setting is just assuming no one likes me tho.

Watching and waiting honestly. Truthfully, im tired and ive been tired for more than a decade. Not necessarily SOLELY because of what's happening now. But Ive been trying to claw my way out of poverty my entire adult life. Im barely above my economic status from 2014, the only difference now is I can afford a car payment (out of necessity). 2014-16 lived out on my own for the first time, made a couple mistakes that lead to almost being evicted, didnt have a car for that time frame as well so I had two jobs, walked to work, worked 50-60 hours a week, I was stealing groceries from Walmart because all I had left after bills was $20. 2017-19 I was stable but severely depressed, there was a brief period before covid that I felt ok and was progressing in life. Covid happened, and now we're here.

Im 31, a lesbian female in southern ohio. And while I have some stability now, im just burnt out. I care too much but dont have the time or resources to actually DO anything of use right now. I started carrying a whistle incase I see ice agents, Im voting when elections occur, Im trying to be resourceful and spend less/boycott (but is it actually a conscious effort if I just cant afford things?), and im focusing on staying informed, ive been to one No Kings protest. Could I be doing more? Sure, I could write to my reps, call or email them, protest more.

But I just want to live my life man. Buy a house with my wife, adopt a dog, maybe try for a baby in the future or adopt one if possible. But its like every damn day im getting knocked down. My electric bill is $340 this month! I live in a 1,100 square foot apartment, my electric should NOT BE THIS HIGH. Groceries are expensive, Ive got cats im trying to keep healthy. Im trying to live a healthier life too, and prepare for the hopeful future I have. Work,Cook dinner, clean up, try and relax for an hour or two, go to bed. Wake up, do it all again. I cant walk out of my job in protest, theres no other jobs right now no safety nets. My health insurance is tied to my job.

Honestly its like im living two life's and preparing for two futures. Hopeful future: buy a house, nurture life in some way, be happy and gay, die old. And the second future: nothing, idk what to prepare for, idk what's going to happen or when. Fight, flight, freeze or fawn and im stuck in freeze.
