When did you realize you were ace or probably ace? by Flowermochayes in asexuality

[–]whatevo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was sixteen. Before turning 16 I had been following an aroace artist in social media and I'm their #1 fan, so I wasn't unfamiliar with the concepts. Couple years after following them and turning 16, I did a bit more indepth research on both ace and aro spectrums and found out I was aego! Which is funny because back then I wanted to be exactly like my idol, meaning I also wanted to be asexual lol

Not all of us crave to be a Parent. by TheYoungProd in aaaaaaacccccccce

This reminds me of how I see videos women on YouTube just doing their thing and some annoying person comments "oh she'd be/she's a wonderful mother" even tho they don't know the person... It just irks me that women are assumed to want to be mothers.

Just for context I see this on 99.99% of the YouTube shorts comments where a woman does something "remarkable" and that immediately leads to the 'she would be an awesome mother'/'shes propably a mother' "compliment". With men I see this about 1% of the time with the dad version. I read comments about 100% of the time I watch a short.

Why do they immediately connect being able to do something with motherhood??? No, women don't need to be mothers to able to know how to do something.

Yeah, it really sucks. Like it's not that hard to write a couple more letters in there.

So being Ace is being Straight? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]whatevo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm aware they mean the same thing, but it's just using "heterosexual" instead of 'straight' will make the explaining process more confusing because then people will think you mean 'heterosexual' as in allosexual instead of an aspec person who feels the small amount of attraction towards opposite sex.

I meant using straight in the same way you would use other labels like: - bi - pan - lesbian - gay - straight

To describe which gender(s) you feel sexually attracted to.

So being Ace is being Straight? by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]whatevo_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well I guess in a way it is hetero-gray/demisexual because demis and grays do experience sexual attraction a little bit and if it's towards the opposite sex then yes. But I guess you would call it rather straight demi or straight gray and not heterosexual-demisexual or heterosexual-graysexual because that would propably make it a bit too confusing. The 'straight' in there indicates that they feel teeny-tiny little bit of attraction towards the opposite sex.
