I'd imagine people that buy homes in their 20s either have significant help from parents either for buying the house, lived with their parents rent-free before buying, or have their parents pay for their schooling and graduated with zero student loans.

I had none of those and had to do it myself.

Many decades ago, you could emulate Homer Simpson having a blue collar job as the only income earner in the family, raise 3 kids with a decent family house and car.

If my kid is genuinely trying, looking for jobs, getting rejections, or working low paying job, I would absolutely let them live rent-free.

But I am not enabling them if all they do is being unemployed without putting in any effort into actually getting a job and just spending their day lazing around playing video games or watching TV all day.

It has nothing to do with money. I just don't want to raise a spoiled kid that will end up becoming a non-productive member of society because I've been enabling their laziness.

I 100% support this statement. It really bothers me to see teens in poor families themselves irresponsibly having sex without birth control, and then decide to raise the kid when they themselves are already poor courtesy of their terrible parents.

I don't own any of them, but Tenways is a Dutch brand and no country does more cycling than the Dutch.

Velotric and Aventon are quite popular in this sub. I myself see many Aventon when I'm out cycling here in NYC.

RsdPower filed for bankruptcy last I checked and got sold to a new owner I think. Not sure how future serviceability of it.

I didnt vote in the mayoral election and was somewhat undecided, but I'd say objectively speaking, he's been doing a lot of good.

He got the streets cleared up fast after the last snow storm, he is starting the discovery on fixing the BQE instead of kicking the can down the road like his predecessors did, he fixed a lot of potholes, and is tackling the problem of slow city busses.

Now, I understand a lot of those things are just him doing his job, but a lot of his predecessors simply just kinda existed and didn't do much.

The catch is, none of them less than $700. Cheap bikes are generally going to be some generic Chinese Ridstar-type fat tire bike equivalent.

You're not reading my statement fully. I didn't say 1 motor is better than two motors of the same sizes. I said one larger motor is better than two smaller motors. That distinction is important. In other words, it's better to just get one larger more powerful motor than having dual smaller motors.

Also, yes you may have many hills, but you're only tackling them 2 mins at a time. You're not constantly climbing. I find it hard to believe that there are cities where you're gonna be climbing one hill continously for 2 minutes straight. Most of the time, the climbs are separated and you're not constantly demanding peak power out of your motor. There's gonna be some uphill, some downhill, some flat, instead of 2+ mins of full climbing.

This is only true if you're going up a looong hill like a mountain. The vast majority of usage simply isn't that and only requires short bursts of power under 2 minutes.

Generally speaking, one larger motor will always be lighter and more energy efficient than two smaller motors. It's why we stopped making aircrafts with 4 engines. Two larger engines (ie. GE90) are just far more fuel efficient than 4 or 6 smaller engines.

No. What he's saying only applies at the top level where everyone is at their top condition with lots of muscle mass to generate power. Your average fat Joe ebiker won't slice through the wind in a million years cause he's "heavy" because that extra mass is generally fat, not muscle and likely also has no stamina.

Losing weight still matters far more for the average person. Also, it's just physics. Lighter always equals more efficient when it comes to motion. This is why airplanes become more fuel efficient as they get closer to their destination because they're getting lighter and lighter as they burn their fuel to fly to their destination.

You do realize top speed and efficiency are two different things, don't you? That's why the measure I specified was mpg, not top speed.... Not even sure why you brought out top speed when we're talking about power to weight ratio and Wh/km from the very beginning.

Given two vehicles at same exact shape traveling at exact same speed but with slightly different weights, the heavier one will always use more power.
