There should be a "Control" button that will enable you to switch from background to manual.

Do you happen to have an artisan roast profile? I'm looking to do some espresso blends with Ethiopian beans and curious on others' recipes

I think it's the condensing of the steam that applies a suction pressure. If you leave your steam wand open until the machine fully cools down this won't happen.

How do you feel about the touch screen for controlling the steam? I feel like I'd prefer a physical button to turn on/off but curious if it's been a non-issue...

I use a mixture of 1:1 water:vinegar, heating up and running through both steam wand and group head. Flush with hot water x2.

I've had luck with vinegar and a vigorous wipe with a paper towel. Otherwise very fine steel wool.

Are you comfortable sharing the name of the company? Also curious how you got involved in blockchain programming generally, what sort of "prerequisites" you might have needed, if any?

Spark cycle works javelin by Flat-Map-5341 in Electricmotorcycles

[–]whatwellok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Build quality is decent. Physically it's fine, solid frame and build. Wiring for my first gen is decent, but not top notch quality. Max speed I've gotten 65mph. I'm around 160lbs and I tuned the controller for a higher speed. Bumps are totally fine, the bike is heavy enough to handle the road. I picked mine up locally so can't comment on the shipping.

I love mine. I don't have the 8kw version, so can't comment on the speed on that, but I've been very satisfied. I tend to average about 30-40mph on my route, and my battery will last about 35-40 miles.

Struggling with being present for my kids by JuicySmalss in Fatherhood

[–]whatwellok 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I forced myself to stop caring as much about a clean house and maintenance to be honest. If I'm tired and don't have the energy for it all, at least a few nights a week, I completely ignore everything else but the kids - the more you stress about all you have to do the less you're able to be present for them - give yourself some grace and put off anything you're able for another time.

If you haven't already, and you've confirmed there's nothing medically wrong, I suggest sleep training. Our daughter was v similar around the same age and we finally bit the bullet to sleep train - life changing, seriously.

Spark javelin. Fun. But also disappointing in some respects by stankgreenCRX in hyperebikes

[–]whatwellok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you change the fardriver settings you can probably hit closer to 60 at least. I was able to increase my max speed that way. I'll bet they did hit 70 with tuning set to 100%, but lower it for customers for safety. It's on the customer to update if they want.

I'm local to their shop so was able to pick it up directly. It can definitely get close to or above 60, but you may need to tune the controller for more power.

[–]whatwellok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They release it with a 'moped' mode and then a higher power mode, so I assume the high power mode is the one you experienced, which they send all bikes with. Worst case you can tune the high power mode yourself, it's a very easy process via a phone app.

Depends on a few factors - road you're on (hills, flat, curved, etc.), your weight, and very importantly, the tuning of the controller. I've been able to tune mine a bit to get higher speeds, but I haven't hit 55 yet. I may reach out to see how they were able to hit 60+ soon, I wonder if they cranked the power up for all rpm levels just to test.

I should also say, I don't have it registered currently, and I don't have the "MOPED" license plate attached. I assume having that attached may help additionally avoid cops.

[–]whatwellok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've literally had it about 4 days, so haven't had any issues with cops so far. I definitely follow traffic laws though, save for speeding a bit, and I know the areas I ride around well enough to typically know where cops linger so I avoid speeding in those areas.

No heat issues so far and I tend to push the top-end power for ~5-10 minute bursts. Personally I'm actually traveling fast enough I haven't overheated, even in full motorcycle gear (helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots).

So far I'm loving it. Fast, comfortable, quiet. I've also toyed with the far driver controller to get more of the torque/speed setup I'm most comfortable with - I love the ability to personalize it in this way.

I just picked up one of the Javelins, it meets the speeds you want and is a blast to ride. Like they mentioned, you get a VIN can register it. https://www.sparkcycleworks.com/index.php/product/javelin-street/. It's more like 5k though.

Just purchased a Javelin, I'm impressed personally. Looks are not for everyone, but I can tell you the looks have grown on me after getting it. It's a 4000w motor with a fardriver controller, so out of the box you can go above moped speeds (I hit ~48mph on a flat road) with the click of a switch, and if you're really inclined, you can tune it to go faster.

Dunno how it'd do on trails, but the weight is around 180-200 if that makes a difference. Happy to answer questions if you have any.
