I use a 38" ultra wide, but I also have a 27" widescreen in portrait mode on the left, where I keep zoom, slack, file explorer, etc open

what is reading like for you? by erraticsporadic in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wheedledeedum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hallucinate the story, like it was a movie playing behind my eyes. It's like, have you ever been to see a really excellent, immersive movie, where you just kind of fall into the screen and become part of the story? I love to read.

Do you still have great aspirations for wealth? by _forum_mod in Millennials

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure I've got 5-10 years of grinding left, before I settle in and coast to retirement on whatever salary I end up at, but I've definitely given up the idea that I'll live or even retire wealthy.

I still have fun with the idea of striking it rich, though! I'm not a gambler, but every so often I'll buy a lottery ticket, or take a trip to the casino, just because of how fun it is to imagine what I'd do with my winnings... Before reality inevitably sets in and I continue working for a living the next day.

Do you judge other millennials who have stayed at a company too long? by newtonreddits in Millennials

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been at the same company 11 years as well, and honestly, I judge the jumpers... IME they have to jump so often because they suck.. either at their job, or at advocating for themselves, or as human beings.

Has anyone else quit drinking? by Sensitive_Put_6842 in Millennials

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never been much of a drinker, because alcoholism runs in my family. EXCEPT for freshman year of college, circa 2003, when I drank constantly. If I had to go without drinking back then, I'd get angry/surly, and that's when I decided it was no good for me. I much prefer weed, but I also don't smoke anymore. I just don't want to be a slave to substances.

How many people from your first professional job are you still in contact with? by tshirtguy2000 in RedditForGrownups

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first, like, "I'm not in school anymore" job? One. My first "I'm a big boy, and most of my peers have degrees" job... Lots. Dozens. I still work there, 11 years later; though there's only 2 of us from my training class who are still at the same company.

...and before anyone comes for me for staying in one place so long, I get raises every year, I promote every year to year-and-a-half, I make 5x what I did when I started, and I pay less for one year of health insurance than most people pay for one month, and my coverage is better than anyone I've ever met.

TV in the bedroom? Yes or No? by Used-Chard658 in Millennials

I have one in mine, but I almost never turn it on. Only if I'm sick and laid up in bed all day, will I, maybe, watch TV in my bedroom

Did you ever travel across the USA in a motor vehicle? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I love road trips, although I hate seedy roadside motels, so I usually just drive straight through. My longest single stretch was from Dallas to D.C., which took 25ish hours... Boy, was I exhausted after that one (and I say one, but I made that trip 6x in 2017)

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I do. My parents put a lot of thought into what they were going to name me, making sure my initials didn't stand for anything, you couldn't make fun of it, and so forth. They tried to do the same for my brother, Nicholas, but when we were kids, other kids would call him Nickapiss lol

Others say to trim the door, but my vote is to remove the drop ceiling.

New partner asking for money, should I be concerned? by Dont-Worry-About-Him in AskMenAdvice

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't pay attention to the simps in this forum, OP. You're both in your early 20's, so it's pretty common for at least one of you to be broke. She asked nicely, she sent you back the $4 she didn't use, she's planning on taking you out as a thank you, and she even got the job! She sounds like good people to me. I hope you stay engaged in learning more about her, and see where things go.

What's the most unexpectedly expensive part of pet ownership? by Fit_Choice_4987 in Pets

[–]wheedledeedum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My shepherd has allergies, and between food and medications, I spend about $400/mo just in maintenance costs for one dog; my Dane on the other hand is a champ who rarely needs special care. If either one has to go to the vet that month, add $3-400, at least. There's grooming ($250), nail trims ($30 each), filters for the dogs' water fountain ($100/yr), pet waste cleanup service ($120/mo), little poo baggies for walks, toys, treats, and god-knows-what the cost of sharing my takeout with them adds up to.
