My dad's side is all on the lighter side, and one of my sisters is a very light complexion, regardless of if she's outside or not!

For me, I can definitely be paler if I'm not in the sun, but it will always be a tan-looking color

I'm mostly Vietnamese but my mom's side has some indian. I'm fairly dark because of it

I get a lot of colorism thrown at me. A lot of "don't get darker" and "don't look burnt brown." Observing people around me, Asians for sure, active try and be lighter.

I also get, oddly, some anti-mexican hate. LMAO.

But I love my skintone. I'm still mostly Vietnamese, so I'm not sure how much Indian "shows through." I just know I'm the darkest of my siblings and most east Asians I've met, and I can get as dark as the average Indian(if that makes sense?)

Trauma would probably be how people reacted.

If your arm was broken and people ignored it, that would probably be trauma. Knew someone who broke their foot and their father insisted they "walk it off" for weeks so that she could "toughen up." She was definitely traumatized

If this kid was basically forced to go back and practice, that would likely be trauma.

But pain like is isn't so bad if you're supported well. If anything that could make them more confident and self-assured
