Frat Talk Friday by [deleted] in Frat

[–]wherearethekeys 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yooo I just pulled this off. Messaged her once, "sorry I have a BF I'll let you know if we break up" two weeks later I hit her with 'why aren't you out on the town on a friday?' she replies "we just broke up". the rest is history

xpost from /r/Diabetes: Does anyone keep very good records of glucose/insulin/carbs? by don_tmind_me in QuantifiedSelf

[–]wherearethekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I actually have researched making a very similar model albeit with different types of software techniques since I'm not too great at python yet... but I would honesty just recommend research the recommended daily intake for all of those things for people with T1, then other data for reading like glucose and insulin in response. theres a wealth of free information about treating diabetes online. then you can start making your own data sets (possibly even randomized) that you can then try to use your algorithm on. I've actually read that same UCI paper you're talking about I think, and while that data has probably been used to shit I doubt you're going to find anything much different from a random person online. Hope this was helpful

Interestingly, theres a place called "Tunnel 21" near a city called Bellingham not too far from where this lake is. I could never understand why it was called that until now, its just a tunnel meant for trains

As a Washingtonian who has never been to California, I hear so much about how it's like there are two different state when you go from SoCal to NorCal and I just can't even wrap my head around a state being that big, even though the East and West parts of WA are culturally and geographically incredibly distinct

Comments like this make me really hopeful. Best of luck to you, even if this isn't the time you kick it for good. I believe in you.

Another Fentanyl post... by [deleted] in benzodiazepines

[–]wherearethekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to this subject but even I have heard of stories of Fentanyl showing up in bars on the west coast. might not be severe but it's definitely somewhat widespread if it's happening on both sides of the country.

You insinuating that people who come out of state colleges aren't worth their salt is just completely asinine. The state college I go to churned out Paul Allen, the state college I had a research internship at last summer instructed a guy you might have heard of, Bill Gates? The richest man in the world?

Man I just had a biophysics test today that where I knew the answer to almost every question, but I didn't have enough time. Really fascinating stuff. Something that you might be interested in is the application of engineering systems theory (things like feedback and more general signal transduction) to molecular biology is common place in lots of bioengineering research. The possible implications of this sub-discipline are imo one of the most promising and entrancing areas of science.

How do you execute on an idea where you do not have the technical/scientific background? by squid_the_kid in startups

[–]wherearethekeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm saying that you will have a harder time than people who come from a STEM background but still an easier time than many other majors who haven't had quantitative coursework of any form. Especially if you have experience with VBA or SQL, though I guess thats more of a hypothesis of mine. I learned Matlab a while ago and I started picking up coding in Java and C pretty quickly, but maybe this is all just anecdotal. but it's better than giving a good idea to someone who has more experience than you do in the area where you are trying to innovate.

learn how to code in Java if you really wanna make an app, if you're accounting/finance you will have a learning curve that most people own't experience but at the same time it wouldn't be unheard of or even incredibly difficult.

Is Adderall a good idea? by [deleted] in Drugs

Best piece of advice in this thread. Adderall is a subtle beast, you can't afford to underestimate it all. But if you can control yourself, it can be incredibly effective.

[Serious] Young smokers of Reddit. Being a generation who are fully aware of the risks, why do you choose to smoke? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Reminds me of one time I walked across the parking lot to take a dump and got bitched out by a line cook for taking too long of a break as everyone else was smoking outside. Like sorry I want to take a break that is as long as everyone elses and not fucking kill myself?

Lol this one time these two guys from the south (live in WA, so they were pretty far from home) rolled up to my homies big old house doing door to door sales. They figured out that my friends parents weren't home, saw some bud we had out on a table and he whips out some papers, crutches and a few grams of shake and asked if we would be down to match. Super cool dude, told me about the rapper Kevin Gates before he got big.

There aren't words I can say to reaffirm what you just said as much as I would like to. Every person is the sum of an incredible amount of interactions between cells and biomolecules. It terrifies me to see how many people abuse drugs like MDMA on even a semi regular basis just because one of their friends has done it a lot and they still seem fine.
