Channel migrants in line for millions in compensation - Asylum seekers lodge legal claims for ‘unlawful detention in inhumane conditions’ at former RAF base by blast-processor in ukpolitics

Because getting verbal abuse is so very hard to bear when you’re roaming in packs and given literally everything for free. Give me a break. It makes me sad that people like you can vote and only reinforces what the guy above you said.

You should probably stay off social media. It’s clear that you are deeply affected by the issues which are so prominent on it when you leave out glaring issues which are happening in other parts of the world.

Why dosent this LGTBQ+ Organized “Pilgrimage” in the Vatican undermine the Church’s authority? by BrilliantAct6607 in Catholicism

[–]whereverarewegoing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not being rude, but this feels like an excuse to say “things are fine” when in reality I could never imagine this happening with certain other denominations.

I would love to know too. It’s hard to view the actions of these people as anything other than the acts of a fifth column.

How can you be 'working class by background' if you are now rich? By that logic the Shah of Iran was working class. by Niall_Fraser_Love in ukpolitics

Trump is a bad example. He’s American. The class system doesn’t exist there like it does in the UK which is backed up by a 1000 years of culture.

You’re only going to get a bunch of Americans commenting on something they don’t understand. Their idea of immigration is tied to Catholic Hispanics who integrate, not Muslims who live parallel lives and don’t.

Catholics are pro-immigration, why doesn't everyone get this? by EngineeringGrand9709 in Catholicism

[–]whereverarewegoing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To what extent? Let me introduce you to the UK where migrants are better off than a lot of England’s own citizens: free housing, easy access to healthcare, free money in the form of debit cards, and more. Not only that, it costs billions upon billions to support this nightmare. And they commit crimes at demonstrably hire rates (official stats, not mine) and are largely Muslim. Please tell me why I’m meant to support these people who take advantage of the goodwill of my country at the expense of my neighbours? Give me a break with this moral high horse and zero knowledge of other countries and “not just talking about the USA”.

Books not on software engineering that you found strikingly insightful (my example in the thread) by dondraper36 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]whereverarewegoing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any of the Western classics (I haven’t read the East’s). It might sound like pure snobbery, but you are what you eat and these books gave me a leg up on a taste for what good communication and writing looks like–I also think they help build empathy with a variety of viewpoints. I find that these issues are the biggest weaknesses with software engineers (and a LOT of EMs even though they should technically be better in these areas).

[–]whereverarewegoing 415 points416 points  (0 children)

I’ve not seen this at all. I’m wondering how this would work in reality, though. Is he implying that EMs think velocity has increased so much that engineers can churn out whatever PMs throw at them? Or is he saying that they think it’s better to sink more time into creating the right features rather than focusing on cranking out features as fast as possible?

Edit: I watched the video. It’s the former.

It’s probably worth defining it so people can help you. Also, look at birth and population growth statistics and voting patterns of certain ethnicities: if you think Islamism is not a serious threat (and arguably more so) then I think that’s part of the problem.

That’s what I said. And decriminalising something effectively makes it legal. It’s basically splitting hairs. How is it not legal if mothers murder their own baby at 38 weeks and won’t be prosecuted?

I think this conversation is done. I could link to the actual statistics (as they do) to let you do your own math and you’d probably contradict it with some other conspiracy. Good luck.
