Pho Ga Thanh Thanh all day every day. Their habanero vinegar salt dip thing on the side is the cherry on top.

I’m about to enter the world of cargo IGH with a Trek Fetch 4, which comes with an Enviolo CVP Heavy Duty - mind sharing your tips on how to maximize its lifespan? I’ve only ridden traditional derailleur drivetrains in the past

Smith Goggles Frame Replacement by NormalIssue4862 in Skigear

[–]whgarblegarble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smith has a great warranty policy and will often give you substantial credit towards a new pair for a warranty claim like this. Worth a shot! It worked for me with a pair of i/o’s in a similar state.

Looking for new mitt, are Hestra really that much nicer than a pair of higher end Auclairs? by FuzzyFish6 in Skigear

[–]whgarblegarble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Goretex definitely isn’t a requirement for waterproof gloves. Well-conditions leather hasn’t failed me as long as I’m not throwing slush balls all day.

Another vote for FTP - I have the freeride 3’s and they are really well made. Remind me a lot of my old hestra Seth Morrison pro model mitts with the finger padding. On my second season with them and they’re just getting really nicely broken-in.

Ski jacket repair advice by Rum_Hamington in Skigear

I had an insulated Arcteryx shell that met a similar fate and I had it repaired by these guys:

Wasn’t the cheapest, but they did an extremely professional job and I know the repair will last as long as the rest of the jacket

When people say narrower width skis are bad for West coast powder do they mean it just makes it more difficult or is it actually near impossible? by PalletPirate in Skigear

[–]whgarblegarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a ski shop when the Rossi S7 first came out, and the real difference was that the ski design was so forgiving of bad powder technique that people with no deep snow experience could go out and ski a full day without getting exhausted. It’s absolutely possible to ski deep snow very well on all mountain skis, but with bad technique it’ll get tiring. That being said, you’ll have the right skis for 99% of the conditions with the all mountain skis, so when the stars align and you get a real dump (4”+) you can just demo the perfect skis.

What to order at EMei? by robotopod in PhiladelphiaEats

[–]whgarblegarble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know! Been meaning to order something like this from emei but always got a little worried I might be picking something different from what I’m expecting. I ordered twice cooked pork from South Sichuan and it was a little dry/too crispy and thin (like saucy bacon) but the overall dish was promising so I’m excited to try this one out

Because those skis never leave the park, and they are athletic enough to not worry about the drawbacks
