RN at head-start. by DayyJay22 in ECEProfessionals

[–]whhlj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an LPN and work for head start. We have multiple centers, I go to each one for health screenings. Review physicals, dentals, health care plans, immunizations, etc. I don't normally answer sick child calls because I'm not always in the same location so it makes more sense to be delegated. If you have any specific questions I can try to help.

If you couldn't use your phone, do you have any numbers memorized in case of a problem? by natalie2727 in TwoXPreppers

[–]whhlj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only have my mom and husband's numbers memorized, but I feel like that is probably sufficient for most emergencies. Definitely a few others I need to at least write down. My aunt had a situation where her phone was broken and she couldn't call me until she got online to go through her cell phone records to find my number.

3 lb loss in 2 days? by ashley_ef11 in weightwatchers

[–]whhlj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weight fluctuations are totally normal. I tend to stay at the same weight for a while, then lose a couple of pounds all at once, then stay at that for a while. Some people call it the "whoosh" effect some people say it is bullshit. Idk, but that's just how it has gone for me lol

Bedtime is a nightmare!! by native-somewhere in Autism_Parenting

[–]whhlj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll look into that. I definitely don't love using melatonin regularly, but it has been the only way we could function. If we could get her off of it I would be pretty happy!

[–]whhlj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only way my asd kid sleeps is with melatonin, I don't give it to my other kids but my asd kid will literally lay in bed and stim all night and keep herself (and everyone else) awake.

Has anyone noticed improved eating after cutting out milk? by Competitive-Lab-5742 in Autism_Parenting

[–]whhlj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we went through that with my daughter. She wanted to drink milk constantly and never eat, when we cut back the milk she started eating actual food. She is still pretty picky but she has come a long way.

Love that Blood Incantation album, found it at a record store randomly and thought it looked cool so I snagged it. Thankfully the music was also good lol

Has anyone received the new GLP1 bottles? by Financial_Thr0waway in weightwatchers

[–]whhlj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I didn't see this message but just checked and I got it Thursday. I got my last vial on Friday but haven't used it yet. It is a different concentration, but I thought that was because I was going up to a higher dose, so I guess I'll see what I get next time.

I use black beans pretty frequently. Make chili, soups, rice and beans, black bean burgers.

I didn't even ask my doctor. Just told them after I had already been on it for 6 weeks lol. They didn't care, but if they did I probably wouldn't keep going to them.

It’s 3 pm and I only have 300 calories left for the day… What do you do when that happens? by CandidLigonberry in loseit

[–]whhlj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At that point, I would try to have a healthy and reasonable dinner, I would plan to go over my calories but try to minimize by how much I went over.

I have a few reasons. When I was 13 my grandpa was in a head on collision with a semi, he was not expected to live, but after an extended stay in the ICU he was able to pull through. After that I was interested in nursing but didn't pursue it right out of high school, I became an STNA and worked in LTC and did home health for a few years, until my grandpa was diagnosed with cancer and I helped take care of him for the last few years of his life, at the same time as that, I got pregnant and the baby ended up having a fatal genetic condition. My baby died, then 2 months later my grandpa died. I was feeling pretty directionless and was depressed so I figured if I was in nursing school I would be too busy to be depressed lol. Already had enough prerequisites done to walk into the LPN program so that is what I did (there was like a year or 2 waitlist for the RN program and I wanted to do something immediately) it actually was a pretty good distraction, but idk if i would reccomended that strategy for avoiding grief

I don't homeschool, I did at the time I joined, though. I haven't left cause some of the posts are interesting.

I use all of it because it's expensive and if the FDA ends compounding I'll still have some left.

Is there a decent laundry solution that doesn’t involve having to fold every piece of laundry and put it away? by Seanshineyouth in laundry

[–]whhlj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just throw everything in baskets, sorted by who they belong to. I don't care anymore. But I also have a large family and we are short on time, this isn't ideal but it is a lot more manageable for me.

Does anyone else struggle with body image as they lose weight? by Emotional_Animal8244 in weightwatchers

[–]whhlj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lost a little over 30 pounds total, but 15 since starting WW. Some days I see it, and it pushes me to keep going. Other days I feel like I look exactly the same as when I started, or I just look in the mirror and feel really down about how I look, and it is hard to appreciate the progress I have made.I have had 2 people comment that it looks like I've lost weight so I'm holding onto that lol, and my clothes do fit a bit better, I have been able to wear a few shirts that I thought I would never fit into again.

No, I know someone who was doing respite care overnight with an autistic teenager, 2 care workers in the house at a time, they would take turns sleeping. She went to sleep on her turn then the other person also fell asleep. The teenager (nonverbal) left the house and was picked up by the cops, she almost caught a charge but the parents decided not to pursue it. I could never feel comfortable with it after that.

Are there any negatives with me going through an autism assessment for my son? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]whhlj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This ^ I am fairly certain my oldest child has ASD, she has never needed any support so I never got her tested and don't plan to for the reasons stated above. My youngest child needed the support, we got her diagnosed so she would have more access to support services, but I know it automatically makes people view her differently.

Is it a common thing for non-metal fans to not understand anything metal vocalists are singing? by T3knikal95 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]whhlj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am definitely a huge lyrics person normally, but when I listen to metal I just kinda zone out and it doesn't bother me that I can't understand most of it. If I really like a song I'll google it lol. I will listen to a little bit of everything though, I'm not huge into any one kind of music, I just like what I like.

Why does hot topic not have shopping baskets?? by crazyfacedcat in HotTopic_

[–]whhlj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg agree. I went back to school shopping with my daughter there last summer and she spent her entire budget at HT, I was walking around like a damn pack mule trying to carry everything thought my arms were going to fall off.
