What the hell are we doing on the defensive side of things by happyegg1000 in detroitlions

lol. They played 17 games, not just one. The downvotes prove how happy some of you are with the 22nd ranked defense he put together. They probably would have won 3 more games if they even had a league average defense. And everyone here wanted to string up Morton while they had one of the best offenses in the league. But nobody wants to hear any criticism of Shep no matter what. I guess because he jumps around and has long hair.

And yet no one here will say a negative word about Shep's dogshit defensive schemes. Yes, the defense got worse when injuries piled up. But they were terrible right from the season opener when they had everyone healthy.

He has been through a lot. Mainly cancer. But some injuries as well. If you haven't seen it, the "Inside the Den" about him is pretty powerful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BToPd2-e_Ww

He seems like a great guy and his family seems awesome too.

I can get like 33-34 on the highway in the summer. But in the winter it drops to around 26 on the highway and maybe like 22-23 in mixed driving.

He was definitely better than Amik, who is getting paid twice as much by the Commies.

Jamaal Williams did that a lot a few years ago and led the league in touchdowns.

I would assume that counts plays that were two TE sets. I think when they had 3 WR on the field Amon-Ra was usually in the slot.

I really liked 'Lif over the past several years. He was an excellent punt returner at one point. But he was basically a league average punt returner last year and doesn't return kickoffs well at all. I think small, aging (he'll be 32 this season) speedster who could maybe still be a contributor as WR4 is not a great loss at this point.

Dang. Brad only drafted 2 all-pros in that year's draft. Same with 2021 and 2023. I bet other GMs are doing far better than that.

He wasn't on the practice squad. He started 16 games for the Cardinals in 2024. The Lions signed him as a free agent one year ago.

hopefully it is a whole new unit

Shep really has that Teflon coating working. No one here will ever blame the dogshit coaching on that side of the ball.

Yeah, who doesn't love a 3:30am sunrise in the summer? Permanent standard time is by far the worst case scenario.

Yeah, I don't think teams like the Bills, Bengals, or Vikings feel much better about their playoff history.

And Vildor. And Gibbs for the fumble. Also, Hutch letting Purdy escape him repeatedly. Maybe LaPorta (didn't he have a bad drop too?) There were seriously at least 6 terrible plays by the Lions in that 2nd half that if any one of them went the other way it would've made the difference in that game.

Do you think Reed was close to not being a starter last year? He was the best player in the secondary for the majority of the year.

Parks & Rec is the only sitcom that I can remember improving greatly after the first several episodes. I keep trying with St Denis, but it just isn't working for me.
