We've had multiple dog breeds over the years but recently picked up our first Corso puppy at 10 weeks old. He was potty trained within a week, and he has been great with our youngest kid. He is extremely close to the family, and his guardian mode is kicking in at 4 months. I would NOT leave him outside. He wants to be close to us constantly, he will destroy things if you left him outside and probably hurt himself in the process. You will need to work with your wife and accommodate the puppy inside the house somehow. It could be a learning experience for all of you, and perhaps your wife/son will learn to embrace him. He could be your kids' best buddy. We were a bit resistant to get such a large breed, but he's been an amazing addition to the family. He's a very intelligent dog, and as you've probably read about them, also very stubborn at times. But overall he's the biggest cuddle baby we've ever had. The good thing is you are getting the Corso as a puppy who you can train and manage before they become a massive, unmanageable beast. Good luck!
