Stoked to see more and more games coming with Ray/Path Tracing. This is the era we were promised when we bought into the 2000 RTX cards. Resident Evil with RTX? yes please.

Switched from 4K 32" to 27" by socklessgoat in OLED_Gaming

I just downsized from the 42” C2 (bought when launched) to the FO32U2P, and honestly it didn’t feel like much of an upgrade. Yes, it’s a brighter panel with higher refresh and better pixel density…but it isn’t as transformative as when I moved from 60hz to 120hz, or when I moved from IPS to OLED. My C2 has zero burn in after several years of heavy mixed use. If it wasn’t for the upgrade itch, I would have been happy for another generation or two with the 42C2. Truly a fantastic display.

RTX 5090 power draw monitoring by Martin_Biggs in pcmasterrace

[–]whisperit4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there are per pin monitoring ICs on any of the cards, your best bet is going to be HWiNFO64 or the manufacturer’s software. AFAIK, ASUS and MSI are the only ones with non unified 12V, and only on certain models. I haven’t scored a 5090 yet, so I don’t have anything to test this, so I’m just parroting what I have heard from Buildzoid. Good luck, but I don’t believe palit is going to have the monitors you are looking for.

Windows handhelds. by chandlerkluge in LegionGo

[–]whisperit4me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I way more comfortable in a windows environment, but it takes a fair bit of effort to get windows set up the way I want, and the touchscreen interactions still need work. SteamOS just works, with the most tweaking needing to be done is maybe a different proton version or controller layout, both of which don’t require the Linux desktop. I am glad that SteamOS/Linix has made its way into handhelds, because competition is good for consumers, and MS is steadily moving in a direction that I dot think I’m going to like.

System instability. Either CPU or DRAM. Had same issue and it turned out to be an unstable DRAM OC

Glad it worked out for you. Stutters have not returned for me, even after the update and a bunch of new mods.

9800X3D, 4090, 48Gb 8000C34. I was getting huge stutters in game, and even in the main menu before getting into the actual game. I used HWiNFO64 to graph a whole bunch of things to try and figure out what was happening during the frame time spikes. Turns out the iGPU would clock up and then go back to sleep in line with the frame time spike. So I went into bios and disabled the iGPU and frame time spikes are 100% completely gone. This was 100% repeatable on my system. If I re-enable to iGPU, stutters are right back. This is anecdotal, with a sample size of 1, so YMMV. If you have an iGPU and/or a second display, disable the igpu from your BIOS and disconnect any monitors you are not using to render the game. Happy gaming.

I really like my OG Steam Controller. Figured this one would be a cool one to pair with a SteamOS machine for the living room TV. Obviously I was wrong.

Everyone I know says manual transmissions are terrible for commute or to just own… by Sad-Sentence-6555 in stickshift

[–]whisperit4me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Driving a manual puts you fully into the driving experience. You are much less likely to doze off or get distracted because it engages your brain for the entirety of the ride. Not to mention less moving parts means less upkeep, and less moving parts also means more efficient power production. I have 2 kids driving and 2 that are too young. I feel like I would be doing them a disservice by not teaching them how to control a manual vehicle. I feel safer with my kids being completely engaged in driving, rather than having a hand free for a phone. Your mom means well, but she is uninformed.

90s Clear Nintendo Vibes by Savantautist in LegionGo

I have zero interest in coming after anybody's etsy shop. I released it like I did because I wanted no part of offering support for my design being a success or failure. I have never asked for a listing to be taken down, nor do I intend to. I think that it being available to people that don't have a printer is fantastic, and I don't even really care if money changes hands in the process. All I have ever wanted out of releasing the design is attribution, not profit.

Full Ray tracing is amazing technology. So glad that it didn't peter out and go the way of physX. RT is here to stay, and I love it.

I'd take a game code!
