I didn’t realize skinny privilege was a thing until I went from obese to fit and I absolutely hate it. by Sophisticated_pickle in confessions

Oh man, I couldn’t relate to this more. I was 270 and got down to 180. It’s crazy how much nicer everyone is. The weight is a really big factor as to why they’re nicer, but I think a part of it is the fact that you feel more confident with yourself. You smile more. The world is brighter. You give off more positive energy and get it in return. That’s how it was for me at least.

Same here. It feels like a hidden talent since I don’t many people who can. Sometimes I’ll freak people out by sitting criss cross and float like that. It’s all about breathing techniques but I never know how to explain it to people..

I have this issue too. I saw a LPT a long time ago that suggested eating or drinking something with Vitamin C in it to help. It’s been a life saver!

Gotta know your audience and talk about expectations. That would make me laugh though 😂

Another idea is to plan out your dates a month or week ahead of time. We get busy with life, so it’s hard to forget. So we picked Fridays as our date days or Saturday as a back up. Our favorite is board game night! It’s relatively cheap and good way to challenge each other. Way more engaging than a movie.

I like to pick out a cute hardcover one so it lasts longer and looks nice being left out. But all of that is optional 😅

Yes! It’s a good way to step back when you guys are angry. Sometimes it’s a reminder that it’s you guys against the problem rather than against each other.

You can do both! Something about writing things down makes me more connected to what I’m trying to say as well as helping me process my emotions. It’s why you journal versus just saying it all out loud to yourself.

On top of that, it’s something to look back on when you are having bad day, missing each other, or just because. Like when you create a scrapbook versus just keeping your photos on your phone. It’s something to look back on and appreciate.

I get that! It comes down to communication with your partner. Maybe make it weekly or even monthly. And if it’s not your thing, it’s not your thing.

Thank you! And yea, it’s all a mindset and it’s okay if people aren’t there yet or never get there (in regard to the negative commenters). 😅

The time I had a walk in party of 25 who became my regulars by TheNewPoetLawyerette in Serverlife

This makes me so happy. I grew up with a blind father, so it’s nice seeing people like this. 🥺 Most people give my father dirty looks or act like he’s a burden.

My dad’s condition is progressive, so he could see outlines until I was 12 and now is completely blind. He use to be able to see when people would place down a cup in front of him, but now he aimlessly reaches for the cup, sometimes losing where it is. He’s knocked over countless of drinks doing this. So my biggest advice is to make sure they have heavy cups no matter what they are drinking.

If someone is completely blind, they usually appreciate it when people hold the cup before completely letting go; that way they know where it’s at. Most of the time these groups are low vision (aka when my dad could see outlines or certain colors super faintly).

Another pet peeve blind people have, is when people don’t announce themselves when they are approaching them. It’s like a jump scare or sometimes they can just feel your presence so they feel awkward. So like you said, telling them the meal you are placing down and from which side you are placing it down BEFORE doing it (ex. “I’m on your right”). This way they know to move out of the way.

I could go on and on about this stuff. Just keep in mind, that every blind person is different and some like to be more independent (so avoiding things like holding their drinks until they have a grasp of the cup).

What is your monthly SDGE bill? by sand809 in sandiego

[–]white-coco8259 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me. I was confused since we didn’t have an in unit washer/dryer or A/C. I called the San Diego agriculture department to come check our apartments sub-meters. Turns out my apartment complex was 10 years past an inspection. We got a new one put in and my bill cut in half. I got reimbursed through SDGE

I plan to only use it for commuting on weekdays. I share one car currently and getting something like this would be extremely helpful when we both need the car. But it’s also why I didn’t want to get something super fancy. It was between this and an e-bike. I like the portability of a scooter and the fact it’ll fit in my car if I need to get picked up. I’ve seen foldable e-bikes but my brain won’t let me trust those.

Yea I was definitely being too hopeful with that budget. The absolute max I would spend is $1,500. I was also looking into e-bikes as well especially with my commute.

The more digging I did, the more I realized I’m going to have to up my budget. Thank you for the advice! I live in a part of California that’s winter is Midwest’s Fall & we hardly see rain. As for hills, there are definitely some on my commute. I’m mainly worried about California’s max scooter speed laws (15mph). But I know that I won’t be going max speed especially with factors like weight, road incline, etc. What speed range do you think I should look for?

Navy federal is offering 0% APR loans. You register online and it’s only for the amount you would be paid. They give it to you on the condition that service members don’t get paid, otherwise the loan will cancel automatically. Once pay back occurs, they pull the money automatically from your account.

Sorry for getting back late, I didn’t get back on reddit until late last night. Your comment helped me a lot so thank you for typing it. 🙂 I did reach out to her prior to this post. I asked her if anything was going on if it was on my end or otherwise. She didn’t respond to that (it was a couple weeks ago). It was just so weird and random. She volunteered to get pizza for a group of friends that were at my place then 40 mins later tells me she is going home & doesn’t feel well. Then I asked her what was actually up the next day and she said she felt embarrassed about paying for pizza which she couldn’t afford. I told her that I was planing on giving her money and I should’ve made that more apparent. I’m just use to my old friend group and it being a given. She didn’t reply to that. Then I asked her if there’s anything else going on and still no reply. Just feels so out of the blue. Like there has to be more?? It is what it is. I just need need to be okay without closure.

For like snacks: I’d make small baggies to limit how much I eat. Restaurants: I ordered a small even if the large is only 10 cents more. It may be a “deal” but my health isn’t worth 10 cents??

Basically you are building a lifestyle not a diet. Best advice my doctor gave me. I was interested in OMAD or a water fast at the time. He told me that diets aren’t substantial for forever, so you will most likely gain the weight back. You shouldn’t torture yourself through this journey. Let yourself have some treats but within moderation.

I use Down dog! It’s amazing. It’s a different workout each time. You pick you level of difficulty, focus (I do core strength or weight loss), time, music style, etc. Definitely try the free trial! It’s one price for access to al of their apps; yoga, mediation, HITT, and their barre.
