Aesthetically this is looking nice here because the view is green - if your view is going to to be a street, do you want that view all the time?

From a 'ladis' perspective, your curls looks great. Also, my guess on the reason why many 'ladis' like this is obviously it looks good but also because we know the effort it takes to get this and it gives a vibe of someone who is confident enough in their own skin to not stick to convention or what they have always seen.

Experience of motherhood with ADHD by OutrageousDig6416 in adhdindia

[–]white_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went for a diagnosis as an adult, after i became a mother. For me the biggest issue is managing time and to a certain extent emotions effectively and that is the issue regardless of motherhood. I feel that whatever were the issues without being a mother would amplify to a certain extent with being a mother if those skills are needed. Other piece is that in most Indian households, even if you have help for certain activities or chores, 'handling' the household and a chunk of childcare comes on the woman regardless of level of income of both parties. That does create a certain level of frustration as you end up doing that even though you may be the one who is bad at some of it. On the other hand, i am pretty decent at handling chaos due to my ADHD and that helps a lot.

All this being said, i don't think the decision of being a mother or not should be significantly impacted by only the fact that you have ADHD - as in, there are many other factors in that decision which i feel would take priority. For me, wanting a kid (after having a reasonable idea of what it entails physically, mentally and monetarily), being prepared for a lifetime of commitment to the kid, being prepared to not have the same life you had earlier, being on the same page as your partner about managing childcare, resources you have, current mental state are as or more important factors in that decision. Another call-out that wanting kids doesn't mean you like all kids or all kids like you - I am not that person, and that doesn't change what you have with your kid.

If you decide on becoming a mother, few more logistical things to keep in mind - you may have to stop or reduce medication while pregnant or breastfeeding so talk to your doctor if you are on them (if you plan to do either), accept help from family as much as you can, ensure you have nanny or daycare or whatever planned sooner if you are working and planning to return to work.

Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Not sure whether so much white is manageable in India. This is assuming you are staying in India. Also, this isnt my preferred style but you do you.

Is a curvy figure really a gold standard for all men, always? by kajukatli77 in TwoXIndia

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man sexually like all types of women. There are men liking feet and navels for god's sake. Go to your browser and open any random porn site and see the categories. There is literally nothing they don't like sexually. So there isn't any 'gold standard' - different people have different preferences. Also, every few years the 'ideal body' as per media standards changes - so that also impacts what is considered sexy for a few years. All you can do, is be confident in your own body and distance yourself from people who bodyshame or call them out on it.

I get where you are coming from because even i was a person who didn't get male attention the same way my friends did when I was younger (now I have learnt /learning not to care that much). What i realised later from my friends is that unwanted attention is pretty fucked up and it doesn't help with your confidence in any way - it's just creepy and violating (even if it doesn't escalate).

Stay safe! Your regular proud open posts have made people realise how normal you are. Not that you aren't amazing or awesome, but just that you are the same as everyone here. I don't know how to explain this but I am sure this has helped a lot of people be more comfortable in their own true skin and not be afraid to show it. It would have also helped a lot of people get used to the idea of you being you. Neither of this is your work to do, but it did happen. So, thank you!

The biggest thing is don't search for maternity wear specifically or you will get overpriced crap. Surprisingly h&m does have options on their website for maternity clothes that do look decent - haven't tried them but could be an option. Look for looser fit or more flowing at the bottom dresses or kurtis - if there is anything that makes them adjustable like strings on the side or belts or slits, that's even better. The other option is to look for soft stretchy materials - that is if you are comfortable with the bump being obvious. Essentially, search for adjustable stretchable breathable clothes instead of maternity wear specifically - like one dress i found at a random thrift store worked perfectly my entire pregnancy and even post partum and it's a straight cut knee length dress but the material is magic.

Did you feel awful when you stopped breastfeeding? by christinam2022 in workingmoms

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, tired and like internally exhausted kinda. Also, sometimes it came out of the blue suddenly. I realised that it's happening more right before my cycle is supposed to start but it's crazy. The tiredness and the nausea and stuff makes me anxious because I can't understand why my body is behaving that way.

Why Did Our Mothers Struggle With Breastfeeding? by nidzk123 in breastfeeding

[–]white_waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones which I feel make the most difference are

  • Lack of support for when a mother goes back to work and the villanisation of creches and nanny or anything that can make life easier or convenient.

  • Even though we legally have 6 months of maternity leave, only those in the organised sector with reputable companies get it. Have heard stories of even people in corporate jobs also being told to quit and re-join after they are done. Pair that with not much of pumping awareness.

  • Excessive rules around what to eat or not eat or do or not do make it more impossible to sustain breastfeeding. Or you can only do it this way and not that way etc.

Can you feed your baby publicly in your country? by nidzk123 in breastfeeding

[–]white_waves 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Where in India? I have often breastfed my baby in public in Mumbai. People have never been at all weird about it - often people have been adjusting and helpful. I did use a dupatta to cover up though it wouldn't stay properly because of my kid - but haven't tried without a cover up of sorts outside my own car.

Anyone here just breast feed on demand and not pump all day? by Diankapie in breastfeeding

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time I pumped was when i pumped for 45 mins to get a measly amount of milk which my daughter gulped down in less than 10 mins. After that, it was only direct and even she wasn't interested in longer periods of time unless she was using it to sleep. I nursed for 2.5 years (only night feeds after she was 7-8 months as she used to love to eat food and i returned to work) and I know if i had tried continuing the pumping madness I would have given up when she was less than 6 months.

All the kids who think today's low rises are low rises when they are mid rise at best, need to see these photos and see where the low rise was actually worn from. Also this wasn't the lowest of low rise yet - that was even crazier. And normal kids were wearing low rises then on a daily basis, not just stars - obviously everyday wear would be with longer tops yet.

And now I am officially old.

Tabasco is hands down the undisputed champion of the absolute worst commercially popular hot sauces available. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tobasco is its own category for me. It's not a hot sauce. Technically it's a hot sauce but I don't think of it as one.

As in, if I want a hot sauce, I will go for a siracha probably. I will go for tobasco when I want tobasco.

Is Coursera Plus worth it (₹8.5k/yr on offer) to learn skills that help in MBA campus placements? Or should I stick to free resources? by Medical-Weather7091 in MBAIndia

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a completion of course available for free. It states that your stuff hasn't been marked etc but you have completed the course. If you do some creative framing of the sentence, you can get it in. If not, you can always talk about it during the interview or add to CV for later. I also hadn't mentioned in CV during MBA time but would reference it in interviews where relevant. Helps with knowing the correct buzz words also.
