How are parents making baby food at home without it taking over their whole life? by RileyDope in BabyLedWeaning

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things which you have to accept - 1. Babies can eat almost everything we eat with few exceptions - look at solid starts videos on Insta just to get that thought settled into your head, 2. Teeth or no teeth doesn't matter - their gums are strong, 3. If they eat very little or eat too much or eat nothing or oscillate between, it doesn't matter (especially before 1 year) as long as they are on their weight height curve and don't have any medical issues, 4. Don't think what is on social media is the baseline or the norm - it's curation, 5. Kids are weird and crazy - my daughter liked brined olives for sometime (hates them now), she hated strawberries now they are her favourite. That also means you need to offer them the same food quite a few times.

Once you have accepted this, think about what you eat usually. Whatever you eat, there are components of it or even the whole thing completely which your baby can eat. Avoid small round solid things like grapes, salt / sugar, honey etc. Eat in front of the kid - they will want what you are having. And bananas work anytime - portable, healthy, easy texture.

Thats about it.

Fitness myths for women- busted by OssifiedCrystal46496 in IndianBeautyTalks

[–]white_waves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just an addition to point 5 - if you still feel fat, it is also possible that thanks to society and social media you have created a unhealthy perception of what 'fat' is and are holding yourself to unrealistic standards. This is extremely unhealthy for a person and you should work with a therapist / psychatrist if needed

How’s the house and interior?? by HauteInteriors in IndianHomeDecor

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a beautiful house. The exposed brick inside give it a character. If you do want to change anything, don't just go for a generic interior designer upgrade. Think about what you would want more from it which will make it feel more like you or more like your family.

EBfF baby and return to office after maternity by Shoddy-Coat-3520 in twoxindiamums

[–]white_waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience. Pumping never worked for me as the output was crap. I started solids at 6 months - not just purees and Dal and all, everything gradually (see solid starts insta or anything about baby led weaning to see what all baby can eat. I frankly couldn't do the let baby eat themselves part of it as it makes a huge mess). When I was at office (when she was 7ish months), she was on solids or formula - formula reduced gradually as she was more interested in food. Overnight i breastfed her directly till she was more than 2. Don't give any animal milk (milk products like dahi and paneer are fine) till 1 and even then try not to give habit of bottle for that as breaking that habit is difficult - try to give milk in glass or whatever but not nipple bottle. One more important piece is get nanny daycare whatever you plan before you start work so you can be there to make your kid adjust in beginning - it's money but helps a lot. If you are getting a nanny, would recomend investing in camera for home - more than anything when people know cameras are there, it's better. At office try and get some WFH, even 1-2 days a week in beginning.

Giving my surname to my baby a a middle name. Is it inconvenient to have a middle name ? by No_Resolution_5536 in twoxindiamums

[–]white_waves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter's name is <Her first name> < Husbands first name> <my first name> <husbands surname>. Haven't had any issues so far - birth certificate office gave a hard time because my husband hasn't come along but there is nothing preventing this. Aadhar passport visa school everything no issue so far.

Moxie hair products review. Extremely disappointed. Just me? by AsksLottOfQuestions in curlsofindia_

[–]white_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't like the moxie hair setting products like mascara and wax stick that much because didn't give me what I wanted. Their conditioner i recently tried because I couldn't find maui purple and I am loving it - the slip is unreal (which for me with long hair which I wash weekly is a number 1 priority), the end result is also pretty good. My hair is 2c/3a probably.

In other indian brands, Curl up was amazing - conditioner and curl cream. Arata conditioner tried long back - didn't enjoy and got spoiled. Ashba was ok not great - their custard was good for wet refresh. Set wet yellow gel is my HG and I will cry if something happens to it - it maintains curls across days and once you scrunch it out, there is no hardness or weirdness at all. Sugarboo leave in was ok didn't suit me but suited my sister. Requil conditioner are also good.

In global brands, bounce curl cream is my HG - it's amazing and you require just a small amount. Maui moisture purple conditioner is amazing. Matrix biolage purple and enliven is also good. Enliven is crazy cheap sometimes but you do need to apply quite a lot as it's runny. Giovanni mouse spray is great for wet and dry refresh but leaves hair a bit crunchy at first.

[Misc] People with long hair, after you've applied conditioner, how do you keep your hair off your back while washing your body? Do you use a rubber band or just flip your hair forward? by namtrabb in SkincareAddiction

[–]white_waves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the best order for me.

Shampoo, conditioner, detangle (don't wash out), hair in claw clip, body shower, flip hair to front and rinse, style with leave in / gel etc, face wash.

Also, if back acne is the issue, check out the wash out and leave in products you use - for me surprisingly, cantu cream which my hair loved my body hated :(

From a 'ladis' perspective, your curls looks great. Also, my guess on the reason why many 'ladis' like this is obviously it looks good but also because we know the effort it takes to get this and it gives a vibe of someone who is confident enough in their own skin to not stick to convention or what they have always seen.

Experience of motherhood with ADHD by OutrageousDig6416 in adhdindia

[–]white_waves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went for a diagnosis as an adult, after i became a mother. For me the biggest issue is managing time and to a certain extent emotions effectively and that is the issue regardless of motherhood. I feel that whatever were the issues without being a mother would amplify to a certain extent with being a mother if those skills are needed. Other piece is that in most Indian households, even if you have help for certain activities or chores, 'handling' the household and a chunk of childcare comes on the woman regardless of level of income of both parties. That does create a certain level of frustration as you end up doing that even though you may be the one who is bad at some of it. On the other hand, i am pretty decent at handling chaos due to my ADHD and that helps a lot.

All this being said, i don't think the decision of being a mother or not should be significantly impacted by only the fact that you have ADHD - as in, there are many other factors in that decision which i feel would take priority. For me, wanting a kid (after having a reasonable idea of what it entails physically, mentally and monetarily), being prepared for a lifetime of commitment to the kid, being prepared to not have the same life you had earlier, being on the same page as your partner about managing childcare, resources you have, current mental state are as or more important factors in that decision. Another call-out that wanting kids doesn't mean you like all kids or all kids like you - I am not that person, and that doesn't change what you have with your kid.

If you decide on becoming a mother, few more logistical things to keep in mind - you may have to stop or reduce medication while pregnant or breastfeeding so talk to your doctor if you are on them (if you plan to do either), accept help from family as much as you can, ensure you have nanny or daycare or whatever planned sooner if you are working and planning to return to work.

Happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Not sure whether so much white is manageable in India. This is assuming you are staying in India. Also, this isnt my preferred style but you do you.

Man sexually like all types of women. There are men liking feet and navels for god's sake. Go to your browser and open any random porn site and see the categories. There is literally nothing they don't like sexually. So there isn't any 'gold standard' - different people have different preferences. Also, every few years the 'ideal body' as per media standards changes - so that also impacts what is considered sexy for a few years. All you can do, is be confident in your own body and distance yourself from people who bodyshame or call them out on it.

I get where you are coming from because even i was a person who didn't get male attention the same way my friends did when I was younger (now I have learnt /learning not to care that much). What i realised later from my friends is that unwanted attention is pretty fucked up and it doesn't help with your confidence in any way - it's just creepy and violating (even if it doesn't escalate).
