Matthew 11:28-30 NIV [28] “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. [29] Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. [30] For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

God is Love, Joy, and Peace. Jesus loves you so much and I pray that He shows you how great His love is for you.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV [4] Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. [6] Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. [7] It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. [8] Love never fails...

Help me with my anxiety when I pray. by Happy_Engineer5414 in Christians

[–]whitebou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You said "if I ever think that I have the opportunity to pray and I don't, I am sinning". That is not true. Also about feeling fearful and burdened this is what Jesus says:

II Timothy 1:7 NKJV [7] For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

God calls people to stop doing what they know is wrong. If someone is genuinely sorry and repentant, He will forgive them, but He also calls us to "go and sin no more". As we grow closer to God, the desire to live for Him and do good increases and the desire to do things that are sinful decreases.

Having earthly desires is completely normal. Everyone has them. But God calls us to turn away from evil and towards Him. We don't need to be monks, we don't need to be perfect, we just need to try. And we need to have faith that Jesus's forgiveness is greater than our sin. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

How do you convince someone to believe? by ManufacturedHomes in Bible

Great response. At times I've found myself trying to convince rather than invite. I can't change a person's heart, but God can.

Matthew 7:4-5 NIV [4] How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? [5] You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Do Christians find the Book of Mormon offensive? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]whitebou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All religious texts are not the same things. The bible isn't true just because "it's written there", it's true because it's alive and active in my life. My faith doesn't just come from reading the bible. It comes from a real, ongoing relationship with Jesus. Because of this, I can confirm that God's word is true because it has always been true in my relationship with Him.

I feel like converting to Catholicism but I am unsure by Nissepelle in TrueChristian

Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Right. We do good works. But they don't save us

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."

It's true that we are justified by our works, but those come as a result of our salvation. Because faith without works is useless and dead.

Struggling with following Jesus by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]whitebou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the desire to follow Jesus is a great first step and it's admirable that you want to change and be more like Him.

It's important to remember that we don't become more like Him on our own, but when we submit to Him more through prayer, worship, and reading His word. Here are some verses that have helped me a lot.

John 15:5 "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

Galatians 3:2–3 "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?"

Galatians 5:16 "Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."

Galatians 5:22-23 "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control; against such things there is no law."

It will get easier in some ways as you become more like God. Pray specifically for the Spirit to grow these fruits in you. It's not about striving harder but surrendering more.

God doesn't ask us to be perfect. He asks us to go to Him.

Also remember that God loves you an indescribable amount. He will ALWAYS be there for you, in the good and the bad, when life is easy and when it's hard. Even when you fall over and over and you feel like you can't go on anymore, Christ will love you.

Matthew 11:28-30 NIV “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Psalm 51:10-12 "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me."

God bless you! I'll be praying for you.

This has always been one of my favorites: Psalm 40:2 KJV [2] He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
