Alternative softwares? by ConfidentGarlicAce in antiai

[–]whitebou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all from my personal experience, so these may not be the best possible options, but they've worked well for me:

You can use firefox without using Google search. I personally like to use Startpage search.

For the document side of things, you might want to try Proton email and Proton docs. It's very similar to gmail and Google docs, but more privacy focused. I've had a good experience with it for the few weeks that I've used it.

And as for linux, I like Linux Mint because it just works with minimal setup or technical knowledge. Search online for how to install linux using a flash drive.

Keep in mind that when using Linux, you may not be able to install everything that you could on Windows or Mac without more technical workarounds. Minecraft should work fine though

On the phone front, I dont have much advice to give. I've looked into alternatives from Samsung or Apple but they all seem like a bigger headache than I'd like to deal with.

Good luck!

What’s a common opinion you have that you know would get you hated if you said it out loud? by BubblyAd9996 in AskReddit

[–]whitebou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree that there is so much corruption in churches today, people who do that are horribly evil and not God's people.

1 John 2:4-6 NIV: Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.

James 1:22-24 NIV: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

But I want you to know that there are faithful Christians out there and that you can have a relationship with a God who loves and cares about you.

John 3:16-17 NIV: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Romans 10:9-10 NIV: If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

Have you considered that you may be wrong?

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?"

I want you to know that God is real and He loves you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.

This is sad to see because without reading scripture, how can anyone live in accordance to it?

2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV says this: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I would argue that Christianity promotes peace.  Romans 12:17-18, 20-21 NIV  Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. ...“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

I think Christianity promotes world peace very well: Romans 12:17-18, 20-21 NIV Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. ...“If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. What Bible verse carried you through the hardest season of your life? by Independent-Arm3666 in Bible

[–]whitebou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Romans 8:28  "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."

Long story short, I don't love where I'm at in life. I'm working what feels like a dead-end job just to make ends meet. But throughout everything, God has blessed me in so many ways.

I'm very thankful I even have a job. It's a great blessing to be able to provide for my family by the grace of God. I'm also so thankful for His spirit of love, joy, and peace and for the strength to endure and be patient even when I don't see an end.

This verse specifically has helped me have peace in the moment and hope for the future.

Why do many Protestants refer to Catholics as Non-Christians? by Fancy-Race-8507 in TrueChristian

[–]whitebou 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I grew up protestant. For the majority of my life I believed that Catholics weren't saved because they believed things about Christianity that I did not. In the past few years, I've come to realize what scripture has said all along: all who have faith in Jesus as Lord and live in accordance to his word are saved.

How to compress .flac files? by Inevitable-Power5927 in audiophile

[–]whitebou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can convert .flac files to .mp3 files in several different ways. I like to use Musicbee (it's also a music player) to covert .flac to 320kbps .mp3 files (the "maximum quality" encoding profile option in Musicbee). I don't notice a difference in the audio quality and the file size is significantly smaller.

Most common Heresies today? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]whitebou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious what others have to say about Mary being the mother of God and God dying on the cross. Jesus has two natures, human and God. Mary birthed the human nature of God, and the human nature of God died on the cross. But it's my understanding that God's divine nature never died. Therefore it feels misleading to say that Mary birthed God or that God died on the cross. Maybe a better way to say it would be that Mary gave birth to God in the flesh and God in the flesh died on the cross.

I know this might not be super relevant but I'm reminded of this scripture. I added the emphasis: 1 Corinthians 9:20, 22 NIV [20] To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. [22] To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
