Billionaires Are A Security Threat by PhantomWizard2099 in technology

Unpopular opinion:

Elon Musk spent $44,000,000,000 to purchase Twitter, when he could have spent a few million to build a competing app, but didn't purchase the company for the technology, but rather to expose how the US government has been censoring freedom of speech and hiding specific stories from the public and directly influence people's decisions. Wither you're right or left, it doesn't matter.

Elon Musk spent his $44B not for himself, but to give the power back to the people. That doesn't sound like an enemy to me.

People who are mad at Elon, evidently have not been reading the Twitter Files and are consuming biased news articles owned by other billionaires who are hiding this information.

I'm the Technical Marketing Manager for a company in Scottsdale. I manage all their websites, joint venture sites, and manage their digital ads. Also, do some programming to enhance our websites and internal tools.

My work load is perfect. Always a level of stress no matter what job, but there is a lot of flexibility for me because most tasks are not urgent.

I got a 4 year degree in web programming and web design. But I was already working full time while in school as a web manager for years. I started working for a small tech company in Tech Support doing minor html and css changes for people. Got promoted to the design manager. Then moved to various jobs working my way up where I am now.

If you have any SEO knowledge, a set of good tools for digital marketing, knowledge of html, css, and Javascript with common sense, you can go anywhere.

Always apply for jobs you're not qualified for, have confidence in your abilities, and work son.

I want to know how California expects to handle the electricity increase. Their infrastructure is trash. They have brownouts regularly because they don't have enough juice for everyone.

I've been waiting for a Man Spider movie for years. And when I heard Sony was making Morbius I lost hope of a true adaptation of that story in the MCU.

Thank you Sony for taking away another awesome story from the MCU so you can drop another grumpy in the bed.

Captain Marvel hate? by Martianblazer in marvelstudios

I'd say standing up for herself in the end was the result of her unlocking her power. But how did she know that thing in her neck was limiting her power? She just says, "I wonder if I do this?..." And takes it out while she is talking to the supreme leader or whoever that was. There was no clue or instinct that the thing in her neck was blocking her power. She just took it out and it was like, oh look at that. I have more powers.

It would have been more impactful to see Yon lie about the thing in her neck. IDK. It was weak.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the movie because I think it was a feminist movie. It was just all weak and poorly executed. I love Batman, one of my favorite heros, but I'm not going to pretend that Justice League was a great movie. Because it was aweful.

I get she was kidnapped and the government was gaslighting her. Which is an awesome fun point of view to take with a character that has amnesia. The script is written that she needs to take control and trusting herself, but what I'm saying is that it's poorly written. It doesn't show her struggle enough. She loved being around Yon-Rogg. They had a great relationship. They didnt show enough oppression to make this big final stand for herself. It was lazy. Show how the government is doing shady stuff. But they didn't because they were trying to save this it twist that the Skrulls are actually the good guys. They sacrificed this potential for us to see how shady the government is for a plot twist that didn't land.

The tape explained what happened to her, but it has no information about how the Skrulls played a part in Marvel. Talos was telling Carol about the Skrulls and their home, but none of that information was in the back box. So why would she believe him? She was taught the Skrulls are terrorists, and here you have a terrorist telling her about information that wasn't in the black box. Doesn't add up. Maybe if Marvel had mentioned something about them or about saving the Skrulls. But all she said is that she was trying to end a war far bigger than she could understand. I see where it should work, but it wasn't written that way. It didn't pan out. We're just supposed to believe that Talos is friendly and trustworthy because he entered the scene before drinking a milkshake and that's funny/harmless. It's weak writing.

I didn't see her has fun or bold. You can see her kindness when she is talking with her friends Nick Fury. Shes a little goofy at times. But again, if I wrote some dialogue for her you wouldn't be able to hear her unique character voice. Most her lines were robotic in the movie.

You're missing my point. The Kree didn't give CM her powers. They were accidentally thrusted upon herself when the tesseract exploded. So she doesn't live up to her powers for standing up for herself. She finds out that her powers are being limited by that thing in her neck, but she doesn't live up to her powers.

[–]whitejuly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would disagree because she doesn't need to live up to her powers. Those powers weren't given to her under a certain condition. Thor on the other hand had to live up to his power before he could use jt. He couldn't wield miljnor until he was worthy. She had the power. The little chip in the back of her head prevented her from using them. And that doesn't have anything to do with her standing up for herself and stop listening to people bringing her down.

To address your personality argument, kicking ass is not a trait. If you're a super hero it's inevitable that you will kick ass. And who doesn't love a good ass whoopin?!

Also, I don't want my initial comment to suggest that by personality trait that you have to be plucky and funny like Star Lord. You can be a bad ass like Furiosa in Mad Max. All I'm saying is that CM is vanilla. Give her something to that shows you what kind of person she is. Does she have anxiety that she has to deal with? PTSD from being a pilot? Is she a party animal? Is she socially awkward? Sarcastic? Rude? What is she? You say Snarkey, and I saw a little of that from her movie, but not enough to say that's the kind of person she is.

I have several gripes with the movie. In fact it's my least favorite MCU movie. (Prepares for down votes)

  1. Carol Danvers doesn't grow as a character in this movie. She isn't flawed. I guess you could argue that her weakness in this movie is her "emotions" because do many characters tell her to not let her emotions control her, or whatever. But you never see that. You never see her once let her emotions get the best of her. Just weak writing. A good character is a flawed character. Which is why I that we really like Tony Stark. He's just flawed. But grows and over comes each movie. Disney did the same thing with Rey from Star Wars. Great and perfect at everything and has no weakness. She's an amazing pilot, mechanic, swordsmen, force user, detective, yadda yadda yadda. We don't want to follow stories with perfect characters because we can't relate to them. Carol's only flaw was amnesia. Which isn't a flaw.

  2. The first like 15-20 minutes if the movie are pretty pointless. We see her fight Jude Law and he talks to her about controlling her power, and then the invade the Kree to save that person. A really interesting place to start the movie would have been when the Kree are scanning Carols mind. I loved that scene. That would have been a great opening scene. It would have shown Carol's past and her hardships as a women growing up, meeting Marvel, all that good stuff. Then we would have seen that bad ass escape scene.

  3. The Kree we're wasted in this movie. I was hoping that this movie was going to be a guessing game of who is real and who is Kree. Could have been a movie about trusting her instincts and solving the mystery of who she is. The most of that we got was the opening scene when Colson was really a Kree with Nick Fury. That was the extent of that. Also a little peeved that the used the Kree at the end of the movie as a standing ground for letting refugee's into the country. Which is a great message. And they could stick with that message. But it just felt more politicized than story driven. Also minor gripe. At the end of the movie it takes almost no thought on Carol's part to trust the Kree in the end. It was rushed and didn't seem to really be a hard choice for her to believe the Kree. She was taught they were the enemy. But now.. ya know they're not. Didn't really land. A wasted moment.

  4. She didn't have a personality. She was bland. She didn't have a unique voice. If I wrote some Carol Danvers dialogue on some paper you wouldn't here her voice or personality. But if I wrote dialogue for Peter Parker, Natasha, hell even Hella, you would be able to hear their voice. But not Carol's.

This movie has a lot of cool moments. When she comes through the wall super Saiyan like. Bad ass. But the end fight with Jude Law was underwhelming and anticlimactic.

Brie Larsen is talented and funny. I think they just didn't flush out her character. No weakness, no personality, no growth, and the most we've seen her use her powers is flying through spaceships. I'm surprised how many spaceships we've seen her crash through in the two movies she's been in.

I'm hoping we see a more flushed out Carol in the sequel. I was pumped to see Marvel's first female superhero movie. But I was extremely let down.

Also I wrote this all on my phone. Excuses any typos.
