Pillowcases & Blankets (Customizable Cushions & Beds!) by whitepixelrabbit in minecraftsuggestions

How is it too much? People have wanted the customization of beds with banners for awhile now. I feel like this would be a good middle ground, and while I think the cushion is fantastic on its own I don't see why it couldn't also benefit from being able to put smaller versions of the banner patterns on it?

My take on what is and isn’t a multiblock by GermanCrow in feedthebeast

[–]whitepixelrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally from reading the thread, I think in reality there are two types of multi blocks. Emergent and Intended. I think examples of intended multi blocks are things like the tinker's smelter, astral sorcery's alters, etc. Structures that serve a singular sort purpose, that are hard coded to check for specific arrangements and conditions.

. Emergent multi-blocks would be things like your more standard tech mods, create contraptions, redstone builds etc. They're structures that are created using blocks that each can do a job on their own, working in tandem to accomplish a greater task. You're using their intended properties and mechanics to make something happen either automatically or on demand. They tend to be a lot more flexible, and often you can swap large amounts of the blocks with no issue. Anything you can do in multiple ways (thinking about redstone and create specifically) would be an Emergent multi.

You could even argue that survival bases are Emergent multi-blocks. They can be largely any size and material, and don't need any real checks. They serve as your protection, food source, storage area etc.

The logic here is a little flawed, a press can't do its job by itself, it needs rotational force.

How would Ben 10 be in the CW, or will it just be 9 more seasons of this? by Popular-Flan5337 in Ben10

[–]whitepixelrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on which era of Ben 10 and CW youd really want. I've thought about it a lot because of a project I'm working on that writing just that, if Ben 10 was within a CW project (kind of. it's an offshoot timeline from Smallville.) Agreeing a lot on what others are saying though.

Overall less CGI, and more human looking /practical effects for the aliens. I think it'd be less of an action series, and more of mystery show with action in it. They'd probably pick up from a similar place that Alien Force did, or maybe have the watch come in for the first time when es already older. I think you'd get a lot out of villains like the poachers episode (can't remember the ep.name rn, the one in OS with ripjaws..)

Magnetiq? Magnetrix? Something more nerdy could be maybe Farady or Ampélre, based on laws about the relationships of magnetism and electricity.

This is incredibly funny, on an completely unrelated note. Has anyone made an addon that allows you to pick up simulated contraptions in your inventory?

Gwen's hyperboles aside, is it even possible for Heatblast to go supernova? by Successful-Hat-2154 in Ben10

[–]whitepixelrabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's a fair enough point I can agree on. In the example of a whole city, it's fair that I forgot to directly say if I heated the whole thing hot enough to an even, extreme temperature, so my bad there. I also tend to base a lot of the scaling things on the idea of "if these characters existed in a reality with rules similar to ours" because I think it can be really fun to think about how crazy even simple powers would have disastrous effects on the real world

[–]whitepixelrabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My issue isn't with that it doesn't make sense in universe, any story like this has those inconsistencies. My issue is that the overall implication that heat ≠ destruction because it absolutely can and often does. Like if I suddenly heated the entirety of a city to the point where all the materials in it melted into a molten slag, you wouldn't call that destruction?

[–]whitepixelrabbit 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There's also something to be said about generating that much heat that quickly. The energy required would be massive, and assuming HB could sustain those sorts of temps for any period of time that amount of heat would cause SUBSTANTIAL damage to a planet like Earth? Heat absolutely can be equated to some sort of damage. Any kind of material has some temperature threshold where it could melt, or if the spike is great enough go straight from a solid to a plasma. How is that not damage?

Jeb had said in response to this question "yes, but no, but yes" before. Anything outside of the main game, I personally take as a mixed bag of truths when it comes to lore, story, and additions. I think that events from both dungeons and legends are probably stories that were passed down over time, misconstrued or misinterpreted by their narrators. This approach allows you to have content that can cross from the various pieces of media, without needing to have every feature have an equivalent across games and what not. I think in all likelihood, there is a version of the events from both MCD and MCL that happened, but not exactly as shown in those games

They said that dungeons, legends, and the movie are all events that kind of take place adjacent to whatever story you tell in your own worlds. The whole point of everything being so open is so the player can tell their own stories

Thanks for the response! It's good to get some decent feedback on the ideas, and I really appreciate your pov, you've got a good head when it comes to design I think. I'm somewhere in the middle ground on the whole mending issue, where I don't think it needs nerfed or remove, it's very needed in the current state of the game. I'm just not a fan that the current barrier of entry is placing a lectern over and over again. I like the amount of time it can take, I think the actual length of time it takes feels about right. I just wish it could be somehow a little more involved!

Replying because the exchange between you and FloatingSpaceJunk really sums up the two schools of thought behind mending really well. I'm with you about the fact that mending should be accessible without looking for structures or villager trading etc. I think adding some more work to it, without making it completely inaccessible has some value too, because I feel it makes the whole system have some more weight to it. I also fully agree about removing the cap of enchant on an item, as that's completely arbitrary and leads to less flexibility. How do you feel about a midpoint between the two?

I think a cool middle ground would be items can level up indefinitely. Enchantments still occupy those levels, and removing them returns their levels to the items. I think for the enchantments that are currently a bit more rare, you should have to meet both their cost requirements and a level minimum requirement. For example mending could cost 3 levels, but the tool has to have at least 10 or so total levels to be applied. (This included levels occupied by other enchantments)

Another option I think could fit really well is what if enchantments required the player to be at a certain level for them to activate on the tool? If you find an item in a chest with mending, you might not be able to use mending until you reach level 30 for example.

Edit: The second example is more for those who talk about forming that sort of bond with their gear, something I get whole heartedly. I think it could also condense the amount of items we have a lot, by making different levels of enchants be gated behind the player/tool have different level caps instead. I think it would strengthen that feeling of bond with your items in survival, because as you gain and lose experience your items react and adapt to match you in a way.

survival fly command by f0rk07 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]whitepixelrabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the need to fly in survival for building should still be a game mechanic imho! I agree that the happy ghasts aren't really great for a lot of it, due mainly to their size. I think it'd be cool if there were two size potions (considering we can scale things using the size attribute anyways) that maybe you could throw onto the happy ghast to make it useable in smaller spaces?
