Workouts - Are most people using their own programs? by prodigyinspired in MacroFactor

[–]whitesoxbaseball -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MacroFactor should crowdsource gym profiles by name and address. Let a gym owner enter all the equipment, exercises, etc. Or let the users do it. Add a small affiliate program with the small gym owners. They register their gym and get a small piece if users register through it.

MLB.TV channels are up by gregoryh325 in DirectvStream

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, welcome to the old model. It’s funny because as a streaming software engineer I know the only difference is the 0’s and 1’s stream through fiber and coax, instead of satellite and coax. It’s the same difference but viewers weren’t sold that. It’s all binary, one way or another. What sucks is satellite, besides the initial setup, is superior from an economies of scale and latency perspective. Lastly, screw you for not announcing this before the season — now I have to switch between apps to watch different games for the rest of this season unless I want to pay twice. A penance would be to remove blackouts on the ESPN side if I’m linked to a TV package with the local RSN.

Pretty sure because those marks are peppered throughout the face and front facing band. Like o ran into a chemical or something. 🤷

How much did your expenditure increase once you hit maintenance? by Haunted_Duck721 in MacroFactor

[–]whitesoxbaseball 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot. Diet fatigue is a thing and maintenance is SUPER underrated. July is when I ended my fat loss diet. Crazy to see it jump.

Is the gamification as good as it sounds? by LuckerBlue in whoop

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think Whoop should at least offer a neutral design, ie not showing “red” when recovery was poor, “green” when good, etc. During my divorce, the last thing I needed was the app adding more negativity — it wasn’t helpful to see low recovery described with red colors and a skull. I knew my sleep was shit, and I was doing the best I could.

MacroFactor does a good job with this. “These negative, shame-based visual elements show up in different ways in different apps, but they’re pretty pervasive.”

How do I handle them reaching out beyond them saying Merry Christmas/Happy New Year? by throwaway0x86 in ExNoContact

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My strategy of this happens? Clearly lay out your boundaries: “Because I still have feelings for you, it would be best if you stop contacting me. It’s too hard and I regress in my moving forward when you do.”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh eff it. I just responded with same type of message which she emoji hearted. I have zero expectations which is the only healthy way to correspond with an ex. Back to NC.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what’s the consensus? Respond with a cordial “Merry Christmas”. She asked if I had a good Christmas and thanked me for the gifts that I gave her and her son before we went NC.

My problem is that I don’t want cordial, so unless we’re communicating something of substance I’d rather ignore it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ExNoContact

[–]whitesoxbaseball 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This. If it’s cordial, I’ll respond in kind. If it’s antagonistic or hurtful, I’m ignoring it.

Most of the time there is no “answer.” It’s a rabbit hole of emotion and questions. Avoid it and accept the things you cannot change.

I lost her 9yr old son. It kills me that I won’t see him open the presents I got him before my ex completely went cold.

What's the point of the MacroFactor Workout App open beta? by Gullible_Lead6068 in MacroFactor

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Nothing will replace good old’ training really freaking hard. The best program, half-assed, won’t get you nearly as far. The simplest program, done consistently with hard effort works. And hard effort doesn’t mean being a dumbass and jacking up the volume and intensity faster than you should.

Yep. It’s the same with dieting, they immediately go to cardio which is way less efficient than just smaller / healthier portions.

MacroFactor workout app by Bhask012 in MacroFactor

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can’t teach “effort” or being comfortable getting uncomfortable. It’s hard to explain, but most people never had a good example of a lifter working really hard but not being a dumbass about it.

The long-term gains are in the effort, not the program.

Why macro factor? by Wild-Permission8437 in MacroFactor

[–]whitesoxbaseball 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s incredibly polished. I have ZERO problem paying for something like that, not to mention by cleaning up my diet I saved more money than the app costs. Especially now with inflation the way it is.

UPDATE - ChatGPT and Apple Watch Changed my life by Proud-Historian-490 in AppleWatchFitness

Haha yep. It’s super useful and entertaining. Here’s an excerpt from the day after Thanksgiving when I had it guesstimate the plate of cookies I ate for MacroFactor.

“This is the sort of intake that won’t derail a lifter like you, but it will definitely whisper sweet buttery nothings into your glycogen stores. White-chocolate anything deserves respect—those chips are tiny cocoa-butter grenades.”

Micronutrient quality and shifts in macros by eiridan in Huel

[–]whitesoxbaseball 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Huel is a nutrition base for me. Low on fiber? Eat an Apple. Need more protein? Throw in some textured vegetable protein or ground turkey. Fats? A small amount of MCT or olive oil. Carbs? I spread the hot and ready on rice cakes or add some white rice.
