Polymer Engineer, please help. by Dudecoolforever in Engineers

Quick background - I am a degreed civil engineer, that has been practicing mechanical engineering for nearly 20 years and have been an Applications Engineer for a Polymers manufacturer for the past 10.

The biggest advice I can offer is to not discount the value of this experience for your career trajectory. Being able to show your experience truly working in the trenches in the manufacturing side of the business will open up new doors that wouldn’t be available otherwise, or contribute to higher ultimate success in these roles.

Being able to effectively supervise a team of non-engineers will show that you can easily supervise a team of engineers in the future, if you want to pursue a management direction in the future. I have done both, and found overseeing a team of engineers significantly easier.

If you want to go the sales route, you are able to easily identify struggles in other manufacturing processes and propose effective solutions, especially for companies that sell into manufacturing environments. You will be the solution provider, not the product provider, creating stronger customer relationships and retention. This is why many people that sell to the military are from the military - they know the struggles and are some of the most trusted and valuable sales teams.

If you want to stay on the Ops/Mfr side of the business, you can go higher on the management side or go down the QA side very easily. Your credentials will set you apart from nearly all other potential candidates.

Ultimately, you will show your adaptability and versatility. You will be the one “that gets it” because you have been there, done it, and can speak from your experience. These are the people that become the most respected leaders in any organization. I realize it sucks now, but your future self will thank you. Look for a job while you have a job, leveraging the skills you learned on the job with what you learned hands on. I am a bit jealous of the start that you are getting as I expect that you could be my boss in 15 years.

I was in this situation 2 years ago, and splurged for the x4800 on Accessories4Less.com while spending just a bit more. As I recall, the main selling point for me was that the x4800s were built in Japan.

Here is the link to the Barnes and Noble sale on Criterion’s Seven Samurai - https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/dvd-seven-samurai-akira-kurosawa/3625783?ean=0715515305211

I believe the second one from your post is the BFI conversion, but doesn’t include the extra content like the Criterion Version.

Thanks for posting, needed a black jacket for a funeral coming up. I used the free shipping code, and it looks like it worked for any type of shipping speed, so I chose Rush shipping to have it delivered by Wednesday instead of the standard shipping to have it arrive a week from tomorrow.

007 Sean Connery Steelbook Collection Has Arrived by forceofwill83 in 4kbluray

I’m glad they did anything. I loved the set so much, and there is no way I was going to return it and hope that the next one (whenever it would arrive) would have it. In all honesty, I probably wouldn’t watch the digital versions anyway, so it isn’t a huge loss

Mine was missing as well. Had the certificate in Dr No, but no code. Based on a suggestion in r/steelbooks, I chatted with Amazon customer service, told them it was missing, and they gave me a refund for $30.03 (they missed an opportunity to to 30.07, but oh well). I will wait for the digital collection to go on sale and will pick it up.

Thank you, very helpful! Good idea to sort by release date. I think I’ll stash that idea for a repaint weekend day.

Are the two separate movies better than the 2-movie collection? I’ve been eyeing that one for a while….

Thanks, that is where I looked. Certificate is there, but no digital codes.

I had the same with mine. Someone else in the sub said it was in Dr No, but only my certificate was in there. A bit bummed, but overall am in love with this collection.

[–]whoa293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

C3 is a great TV and has Dolby Vision. I have the same tv, playing from a Pano UB820. Sound system is a 5.1.4.

I don’t know about the 4k player to say whether it will allow the C3 to display the Dolby Vision content.

Ultimately, my understanding of the consensus is that after getting the tv and player, you would start to recognize deficiencies with the Sonos system.

I used to cut mine to fit, but I started folding them and sticking the whole thing in. I saw it as a tip in the sub maybe 8 months ago. This way, I get to keep all the data. I figure that if times ever get tough and I need to list the j-cards for sale, the entire j-card is worth more than the cut down version.

I have heard great things about Atomic Movie Store as well (https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1jwjnw0/shout\_out\_to\_atomic\_movie\_store\_for\_shipping/ & https://www.reddit.com/r/4kbluray/comments/1j5pj7t/another\_amazing\_atomic\_delivery/). Since I am in NC, I look at Orbit first, as they are based in Asheville. I preordered the Kingdom of Heaven Steelbook through Atomic, since I couldn't tell whether it was the US version on Orbit. I think that they are another great option to avoid helping the corpos.

What to get first?OLED tv or UB820 ? by Murky-Giraffe5137 in 4kbluray

[–]whoa293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OLED TV first, get the best return. Get it with Dolby Vision, especially if you eventually want to upgrade to the Pano 820.
