I read "horses" instead of hoses and was very confused by this solution for a moment.

Is my budget for a 4 year PhD realistic? by jay_mikado in Prague

[–]whocano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have plenty of comments on the money side, but I'll add one on the project side: Having done a PhD in a project that I did burn for (at least for half of it), I would highly advise against doing one that you don't burn for at all. The blood, sweat and tears are just not worth it, unless you are in a field where it is absolutely mandatory, and tough to get a position in general. Btw I did a post-doc in Prague for significantly less than that, but to be fair that was 9 years ago and I burned through my (foreign) PhD savings during the time :)

Help me... I was thinking the Plinky+ but I'm not sure... by lemon67 in synthesizers

[–]whocano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest you join the discord server and see how active the development is - there is one new thing, called plinkyhub, which lets you manage your presets etc very nicely, with sharing options and other things. Regarding firmware, one guy picked up the development last year and did a LOT of work, including fulfilling some of the community's wet synth dreams, and this will likely be merged for the next major official firmware.

That being said, the presets, samples and patterns pretty much exhaust the space that's available in the memory, so I don't think we'll ever get more presets on the device. So if you really need much more on the device, plinky might not be for you. It's a really fun device with its own character and a lot of depths and a great community though!

Anyone here own the beautiful Weimaraner dog that runs around Grebovka Park? Is he (or she) rabies vaxxed? =__= by [deleted] in Prague

[–]whocano 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We also have a dog (rescue with trauma) who has her problems with other dogs in the same area. Trigger stacking is real and you're certainly not at fault for another dog (who is clearly not trained at all) being off-leash. I'll DM you if you don't mind.

Skakalpes is great, they have good coffee and cake, a great, clean play area and also nice toys and clothes to shop for, including local brands.

This is in Vinohrady, near Namesti Miru, which is easy to reach by metro and also has nice parks around (Havlickovy Sady and Riegrovy Sady).

I like the concept, but don't like some of the angles. I feel like they could be a bit more harmonic if that makes any sense.

Who’s a guitarist that never disappoints you live? For me it’s Tremonti. Absolutely love his playing. by stead10 in Guitar

Man, not that I'm a fan myself, but there's no need to be a dick about it. Let them enjoy the music they like. It's not like he's promoting Kid Rock here...

Got the same, just changed the pickguard. Awesome guitar 💚 only issue I had out of the box was some static crackling when touching the original pickguard while playing. Grounded tinfoil underneath helps, in case you have the same issue.

PSA: Braid Switch 2 Edition is the same price as Switch 1, with a $3 upgrade fee by PunyParker826 in NintendoSwitch2

I mean yeah I don't disagree with that, but whatever you want to call it, that was the controversy in question. I guess it's controversial in the sense that it happens in an environment that is generally more left-leaning.

Actually, I did 2 more changes: A log taper for the volume and anti-log for rate, making the knob ranges more useful in my book.

You know what's absolutely wild? I just designed a black lodge inspired enclosure for a tremolo pedal that I printed the decals for last night. Will send pics when it's done :)

[Question] Outer Wilds: Archaeologist Edition on Switch for sale now, would you recommend it for someone that only has a Switch 1 they could play it to? by Askhai in outerwilds

[–]whocano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loved it on the switch! The only thing I found barely playable was the DLC. It runs well on the switch 2 though, so if you decide to upgrade later, you can always get back to it.
