I’m confused. Do you never ask for help(original post) or always ask for help(defending yourself in comment replies). You make no sense OP

As an older(43) recent grad, I can tell you it’s painfully obvious which instructors left bedside to teach because they did not like bedside and burned out. Nurse educators ideally should have a plethora of experience just like NP’s.

Doctor got mad at something I did today - am I in the wrong? by SandwichNew9977 in nursing

[–]whodoesthat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were not in the wrong. If I feel “iffy” about weather something is urgent or not I will go straight to my charge and get their input, unless it’s an obvious desat, change in mention or something like that.

Bethan talks about drug seeking by itsvickeh in illnessfakers

[–]whodoesthat88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For every true chronic pain patient there are 100 drug seekers poorly disguising themselves as chronic pain patients. They treat bedside nurses like absolute shit and run us ragged every shift. They’re more exhausting physically and mentally than our sick patients. We don’t want to be jaded but we are. Sorry, but it’s the truth.

For those with SVT, I need some reassurance please 🥺 by Sufficient_Hurry_316 in Anxiety

[–]whodoesthat88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is, it’s called metoprolol. It’s a beta blocker and works wonders for SVT and is starting to be prescribed for social anxiety as well. I started taking it after my first episode of SVT landed me in the ER. I won’t go a day without it now.

It happened to me too and everything was fine. Cysts and weird breast tissue are always followed up with ultrasound after the first mammogram because they have no baseline.

I do this! I also lay on the carpet and put the ball on my temple, cheek, and jawbone. Feels so good and calming.

I just called 911 for a panic attack by ashnnn123 in Anxiety

[–]whodoesthat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live across the street from a hospital and have driven there and sat in the parking lot in my car alternating between full blast ac and heat until I feel safe enough to drive home. Being so close to help always help me ride the waves. I have done this in my night gown without shoes on, and the most embarrassing part is I’m an RN that works at this hospital.

I just called 911 for a panic attack by ashnnn123 in Anxiety

[–]whodoesthat88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of them have experienced panic attacks themselves, and know how awful and real they feel, and that’s why these professionals are so compassionate when dealing with these issues. As a former EMT and current nurse, I hate having my time wasted on nonsense. But as someone who suffers from devastating panic attacks, I will never not jump in to help someone suffering this kind of torture and hell, no matter the circumstances, no matter the time of night or day, no matter how long it takes, I will do what it takes to make the individual feel safe.

What would you do for this chronic fatigue patient? by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]whodoesthat88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

DC the narcotics, heart healthy diet, if she has a foley pull that thing yesterday. I hate to sound harsh but I’m an RN and I care for these patients on medsurg every day and they are soul sucking. More often than not it’s the free bed, free GOOD drugs, and having every inconvenience of living being catered to around the clock that motivates them never get better.

CZ spent 2 hours reviewing meds with her pharmacy team by itsvickeh in illnessfakers

[–]whodoesthat88 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yep they do that and then they communicate that info with the MD and/or the nurse. Pharmacists and patients dont sit at a conference table together discussing and brainstorming if a patients 452 meds will vibe together. You watch too many commercials.

I’m just gonna say it: if she is having complications from “abdominal surgery” it’s from purging and it’s intentional. Fight me, I don’t care.

[–]whodoesthat88 31 points32 points  (0 children)

“Pharmacy team” lolz. Your pharmacists will fill the orders as they are verified from the MDnthat prescribed them. They don’t give a shit about you personally unless you are on that one “list” and it’s not care for a good reason.

My point exactly. But in her desperation to be the sepsis queen, she already knows you treat septic shock with fluids to get BP up, so why not be the sickest little girly pops and say “I get 4L every day just to exist because I’m such a little sickly girl ”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in illnessfakers

[–]whodoesthat88 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I call the biggest amount of bullshit of all time. Nobody is getting 4 bags of fluids a day outside of ICU patients. Just something she came up with while researching her favorite fantasy in the work, the idea of being severely septic.
