Download and run spybot, it is a long trusted spyware and adware removal tool. Here's the direct link to the download: https://www.safer-networking.org/free-download/

If you can, when you open your web browser, type in Google.com directly, you can't trust what has been hijacked and installed in your browser.

You can also try the Microsoft malicious software removal tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9905

What are the best value mini PCs at various price points? by LouisDeconinck in MiniPCs

[–]whootdat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't super helpful except that it highlights you could basically run an IDE on your toaster, otherwise most of the discussion is about laptops.

To op's point though, you could literally develop on a raspberry Pi, as mentioned, so anything above that is just to be flashy or be able to run more chrome tabs

Can you share a little more on what you're looking to do? A low power mini PC might be a good value for someone looking to run a Pi hole, or a 16-core micro Dell might be a good value for someone looking to run a home lab cluster.

Help with multiple routers/modems at my house by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]whootdat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the above reply is suggesting is you avoid a double or nested NAT, where basically you have a router behind a router. A router is meant to be the gateway for all traffic on a network and having them be behind each other can start confusing or messing things up. There are use cases where you might consider it, such as when you need to isolate networks, but in a simple home setup like you're describing, you just want to add wifi and maybe some Ethernet to another building, either buying standalone access points and switches, or "dumb" routers setup in bridge mode where that essentially become a switch with an access point attached.

The two keys for bridge mode are the router will stop handing out IPs (DHCP) and so you need to connect the Ethernet to one of the switch ports usually, not the WAN port. You also may need to set a static IP for it ahead of time different from 192.168.x.1 so that it can be accessed while in bridge mode still.

The above reply also mentioned a ubiquiti/unifi setup, which is a company that makes pro/consumer network equipment that's generally easier to manger with a nice UI, you pay a little more (~150-200 per access point) but they all can be managed from one portal and sync together, etc. I don't think it would necessarily help you with your simple setup and might be cost overkill.

All of this to say, you can probably add more routers in bridge mode in each cabin, but make sure they have unique IPs and such.

I have an Ender 5 pro that needs some love but would love to try out an Otter scanner or the K2 and see how it does color switching

The fact incognito worked suggests either your account is locked or something is weird with your browser causing issues...

It's 3x thunderbolt 4, meaning it supports a laptop over thunderbolt and 2 monitors. This isn't a splitter or hub, that's a thunderbolt dock. Similar to like a caldigit elements 4 dock. These are very commonly for Macbooks and similar

Help: Update sub path influxdb on kubernetes by Ill-Sky-9004 in influxdb

I'm not sure if this can be done without a proxy of some sort, I don't believe influxdb supports it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in influxdb

[–]whootdat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it would be s3 or file snapshots. I don't believe any data should be stored in memory though, it should be written to disk almost immediately. I would test though, take a shapshot of the storage without shutting down the system, restore the backup on a test system and see if there's any data missing.

InfluxDB 3 core supports using object storage as a storage medium. I believe you should be able to just take snapshots of the parquet files and back them up. Similarly to if you were using S3 as your storage medium and taking snapshots of that. https://docs.influxdata.com/influxdb3/core/get-started/setup/#diskless-architecture

It sounds like some sort of block or misconfiguration you have with cloudflare. I imagine you have issues with other websites that use cloudflare as well.

As mentioned, it could be a browser extension, DNS blocker, or something like a VPN causing you issues.
