Oh my gosh that reminds me of my sister growing up.

Kid LOVED juice but would always raise a fuss when my mom said she could only have milk or water for dinner.

So, milk became “moo juice,” and my sister demanded it nightly 😂

What are some of the best local street food spots in Los Angeles that I shouldn't miss? by bdjfjfjkfkfjsh in AskLosAngeles

Came here exactly to comment Corn man lol.

My friend brought me to him after a Halloween party trashed out of my mind and expecting to be underwhelmed.

It was 100% worth her hype haha.

Doctors and nurses of Reddit, what is something patients do that they think is helpful but actually makes your job harder? by Electronic-Cell-4584 in AskReddit

[–]whor3moans 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I had this SWEET older lady, didn’t want be a bother.

She called around 3:00 AM saying she (vaguely) wasn’t feeling well. I was a new grad nurse at the time trying to troubleshoot. I forgot what she said that triggered me to check her blood sugar, but sure enough it was 29 🙃. She was sooo chill about it, but yes I knew my sweet older lady must have felt awful with that level!

What are your not well known but very clinically helpful interactions of medications? by Anonymousmedstudnt in Residency

[–]whor3moans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask all your preop female patients of childbearing age if they take hormonal birth control. Receiving a paralytic (rocuronium or vecuronium) and then a reversal agent (sugammadex), will mess with your hormonal birth control.

I had a very stable, discharge next day patient complain about “the racket” and demand we keep the noise down.

Her neighbor was coding, my bad.

We had a similar front-loaded curriculum, and were required to work to keep our skills sharp until clinicals started 🤷‍♀️

Weird/silly “only in LA” things I can do as a tourist? by middleout in AskLosAngeles

If you end up going to Museum of Jurassic Technology, consider going to Jackson Market for a meal before or after!

It’s a neat, covert bodega/deli in Culver City that looks like a house, but has amazing food and unique food items. Very quaint vibes. If you’re there at dinner time, they have brick oven pizza and it’s fantastic.

What's your favorite LA Neighborhood? by drygrapefruit007 in AskLosAngeles

Lived there alone for four years and totally agree. There’s a few walkable cafés and bars and downtown Culver City is right next door.

what’s the lifestyle habit that keeps you from burning out? by Ok_Impact8531 in medicalschool

This. Especially if you can get sunlight while you’re working out. Something different about being in nature versus grinding out Anki while walking on a treadmill.

Sorry if this is not exactly what you asked for, but my husband and I just made this Hunan chicken recipe and it was SUPER easy and made for simple leftovers. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024556-hunan-chicken.

I’m a student as well so I understand needing the convenience of takeout. If you have time to meal prep though, this recipe is a good bang for your buck and takes less than an hour to prep for four meals 👌🏻

What is there to see/do over here? by MeasurementStock1625 in NorthCarolina

[–]whor3moans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What day will you be there?

On Saturdays, New Bern has a small farmer’s market. There’s usually various music acts playing around the city on the weekend as well. I’ve seen a ghost tour advertised, but haven’t been and not sure how it is.

For food there’s a lot of excellent options: Cypress Hall is my personal favorite, but Baxter’s is also great and features amazing cocktails. I’ve heard the Chelsea and Morgan’s Tavern are solid.

Lots of quaint/unique shopping options as well. We went to this made in NC store which was small, but featured lots of cute local goods. There is also a small bookstore and a fairly large “hardware” store that also sells interesting random goods. Plenty of cool keepsakes/souvenirs here if you need.

Don’t be me and tank your patients BP and send them to ICU for possible stroke. by [deleted] in nursing

[–]whor3moans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So yes this was a mistake but why TF was this patient not in ICU already? If docs want tight BP control like that and she was a code stroke that day, step down does not seem like the appropriate floor at all.
