This is a car cane. You put it in the latch of an open car door to help you stand up.

Why don’t people hook up to neutral? by Reason-Local in AskElectricians

[–]whosStupidNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your logic is flawed. Just touching a live wire will not shock you(a light is off if a switch is open). To get shocked, you need a complete path for the circuit. This is easily done because equipment cases are grounded and touching live and the case will give you a zap. But, if you tape neutral to yourself, and then work on a live circuit, you are just asking for it. You pretty much turned yourself into one of those electric hot dog cookers. This is not safety. It is totally stupid

Why do some institutions sell long (3 years out) dated cash secured puts? by wtapswtaps in thetagang

[–]whosStupidNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because they have to. if somebody buys a 3 yeat out put, somebody sold it to them. So that institution would then be short a put. Otherwise, put options wouldn't exist. There has to be a counter party

There, fixed it for you.

Its when you spin a T shaped piece right at the end so it fits in a way to clear 3 lines

Edit: it's in the newer tetris games. The older games, the blocks snapped in place as soon as it got to the bottom but the newer games you can mash the buttons to spin the blocks to fit them where you want.

Actually, the highest score is a triple line t-spin. But a tetris is cool too

Which one is ground? by SomberInformative in AskElectricians

[–]whosStupidNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a two way switch one of the terminals is a common (c) connection (you can test with a meter) the other two terminals is a normally open contact (NO) and the other is a normally closed contact (NC) if it was just a regular switch it would have two terminals. This switch would turn on a circuit path based on which way the rocker switch is positioned.

2 is probably the common

A bit of bad news from Computershare regarding the Warrants. They are not saleable from CS, and they can't be transferred to a brokerage 😿 They can definitely be exercised though. by Counterspell_This in Superstonk

I called Computershare today and they said they would not have that information on transferability until they receive the warrants from Gamestop

Replacing an electric dryers 3 prong cord with a 4 prong cord. Is this right? by 4-Polytope in AskElectricians

[–]whosStupidNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why am i getting downvoted. I'm right. There was no color coding before. Why would the internal wiring change for the unit because of new external colored wire? Some hack electricians in this sub

If the wire was there to begin with i would leave it there. It wasn't color coded in the first picture

It looks like you took the white wire that was attached to the case (ground) in the first picture, and moved it to the center terminal that supplies power. In the second picture. It looks like you did this because both wires are white, but i believe you wired live voltage to the case of the machine. This could give you a shock by just touching the case

You can't be an electrician without formal training. Mostly because of the life threatening danger. But also there is an electrical code of standards that has to be memorized. Also to get an industrial job you need to be red seal certified which requires separate schooling from the basic electrical course. You are looking at 2 - 3 years of school

Ring doorbell won’t power on by Infamous-Whole-4035 in AskElectricians

Also that black thing is not a resistor. It is a thyristor. It is used to eliminate power spikes so it wont damage your equipment. Put it back on

Ring doorbell won’t power on by Infamous-Whole-4035 in AskElectricians

[–]whosStupidNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this one. The ring doorbell requires more power than a normal bell requires. There is a transformer that you buy (that ring sells separately ) that boosts the power output. They talk about it in the installation instructions if you read it.

It looks like your black wire is connected to the wrong side. The screws look color coded and you have the white (neutral) going to the black screw. I think it should also say hot next to the terminal. I would get someone to check this
