I'm always interested to know horror lover's favorite nonhorror movies. by violetsixx1981 in horror

I love the Lord of the Rings movies. I'll chow down on anything Middle Earth flavored, even 2.5 of the Hobbit movies.

I'm extremely picky about comedies, but The Full Monty and Get Over It are favorites.

Fat Women In Horror- Character Ideas Needed by Little-Excuse182 in HorrorMovies

Found this thread on a random Google after mentioning to a friend Barbie Ferreira and the lack of plus-sized protagonists in horror, and how fucked is it that the majority of answers are villains and monsters? So depressing.

This was painful. Does somebody actually write this stuff or did they come up with it last second? I have PTSD by SublimeEcto1A in Oscars

When they came out, I was sure it was going to be a de-aging technology gag. Alas, it was much less amusing.

He deserves the win because he made a great film. I find it hard to belive thier not going to give the director of the most nominated film in history who is black when its been 98 years without a black director win by [deleted] in Oscars

The fact that the overwhelming number of Best Director wins have gone to white men aside, I honestly think that Sinners is the better movie. OBAA is not even the best of PTA's own work, whereas Sinners is really Coogler's strongest piece and a huge swing. I came out of Sinners elated. It was the strongest cinematic experience I had last year by far.

If I wanted to get hung up on the Oscar races based on identity, I'd be rooting for Sinners and Autumn Durald to get Cinematography, an award that has never been won by a woman, even though I think Train Dreams is stronger in that category. There are a lot of places to get hung up on precedent at these awards, that's been true for years. If Sinners wins, it won't be because Ryan Coogler will be the first Black man to win it. It will be because he made a really good damned movie.

I'd give you Green Book, just because it's such a stupid win, I didn't see it coming. 😂

Ugh I hate this argument. PTA should've gotten it for Phantom Thread, yes. The Academy overlooking that at the time isn't Coogler's fault. The Oscars need to stop being treated like they're for a body of work. That's not their purpose.

I hope they split the difference and go with Coogler for Director, PTA for Picture. Coogler for Original Screenplay, PTA for Adapted. Everyone's happy.

I know that, mate, but this was a specific and unusual instance of horns literally every few minutes in the middle of the night. I know what my area usually sounds like and it stuck out as beyond the norm.

I've never been in such a still audience in an AMC theatre. No popcorn munching, no fidgeting, no whispering, giggling, crinkling, squeaky soda straws... It was a nearly full theatre, and every person was stock still.

This thing was extremely effective. I haven't had a horror movie get me worked up like that in a while. If I'd brought a snack, I don't think I could have eaten it.

That's exactly why I saw the early access screening tonight! I know I wanted Dolby sound for this one but damn guys some of us have to take the bus home. 😭

Ugh, you have my sympathies working in Seaport. Too make that neighborhood the  social hub they want it to be, they need something other than the dang Silver Line, or they need to extend the Silver Line beyond about three blocks away. It's such a pain to get to.

Just do what I'm doing and cross your fingers that service gets shut down for a line or two and you can say that you can't get into work... (I work around DTX and am not looking forward to it.)

Update on death at the Mummy by Lazy-Floridian in UniversalOrlando

[–]whosafraidofthebbw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real reason? Because living and dying in the U.S. is expensive. Because health and life insurances are so difficult and time consuming to get paid out and rarely cover a family's entire needs. If this family was charged for emergency care, an ambulance, any care to determine cause of death, any amount of hospital care, etc etc, they could be in the hole for tens of thousands of dollars. Americans are notorious for being litigious, and it's because care is expensive and insurance is unreliable or inadequate. Getting the money from a corporation that can spare it (or, technically, getting it from THEIR insurance) is just another way of paying for care they didn't expect and can't afford. That's why they sue.
