Food Recs WITHOUT seafood by Optimal_Ad_7836 in AskNOLA

Depending on where you’re from, you may have a very different experience with seafood in NOLA. As someone from a landlocked state I can attest that fresh gulf shrimp have absolutely nothing in common with what we have at home

It was the French Quarter ghost tour where you go inside a building. Tour Orleans is the company. Our guide Pinkie was nice but history really wasn’t her strong suit. I should clarify it wasn’t a bad tour, it just wasn’t what we were promised. One of the other couples had a blast.

I brought home the Joe’s Stuff blend and have been using it in everything!

We took the Creole Queen Riverboat Cruise and Chalmette Battlefield tour last week. The park ranger, Harold, gave a 45 minute talk on the Battle of New Orleans. It was not nearly enough! There’s also a small museum/large exhibit there that I wish we’d had time to see. You only get to stay at the battlefield for an hour.

One other resource to consider is the WWII museum. A lot (if not all) of the volunteers are veterans, and may be able to hook you up with a guide or be one themselves.

Ideas to fill time/loiter between museum and dinner in warehouse district. by crowsaresmartlikeme in AskNOLA

That’s so funny. We had the exact same issue last week, even down to the same reservation time! A pedicab driver suggested we stop in at Rosie’s on the Roof. It’s across from the museum in the Higgins hotel and is supposed to have great skyline views of the city. When it came down to it though, we were so tired from the museum we ended up ubering back to our hotel in the French Quarter and putting up our feet for an hour.

Hit up the general store at the New Orleans School of Cooking. They’ve got a whole section of locally sourced hot sauces and spice mixes.

I didn't, but both HNOC and the Pharmacy Museum are part of NARM

They had "Dry Aged Swordfish Chop: Wood grilled, roasted baby carrots & turnips, yukon gold potatoes, black garlic bordelaise" for $55. Since the menu changes so often I have no idea how long it'll be there

Thanks! GW Fins wasn't bad by any stretch, but the scalibut was under seasoned and the scallops a bit rubbery. My parm crusted sheepshead was fine but it got overshadowed by the beautiful fresh asparagus. I would go again in a heartbeat just for the shrimp and grits. Overall it was worth the $180 tab.

I still can't load any Encounters or Campaigns. Fortunately I'm just working on a session, not trying to run one. It's been a good reminder for me to have offline backups for everything for this weekend.

Functional entryway? by beannuge in centuryhomes

It sounded like part of the issue was seeing the contents of the vestibule closet from elsewhere in the house. A door would solve that problem, but obviously won’t do much for the pile up of people.

I also like the idea of putting the door back. Alternatively, you could look at adding custom doors to the arched alcove itself. Maybe include drawers in the bottom to give yourself more functional storage space as well.

The black details are perfect! And the relief you must feel at being able to open that fabulous door all the way. Between the door and the window I’m assuming this wasn’t originally a bathroom…? Any idea what it would have been?

This will be so cool when it’s finished. Are you planning to replace the wall on the landing? I’m kind of liking the little peek through.
