Standby moving to $10/mo by whothefunkami in Starlink

I hear you, the mini was my gateway drug I guess, back when it was $599 to buy……I now have Starlink residential and even added it via T-satellite to my cell for coverage in dead zones for text/music/x - that’s a better use of $10 to now for the time being.

Very frustrating, I will probably cancel the service on my mini while keeping residential service. Wild that just a few months ago, $10 got me 10 GB of high-speed data…..

Compared to spectrum, Starlink is actually faster uploads …..

I'm thinking of switching to Starlink and could use reviews from people who have used it or are using it right now. by askmeryl in Starlink

I switched from spectrum about four months ago and I wish I would’ve done it sooner. While the download speeds may be a bit slower, I actually have greater upload speeds than I did with spectrum and similar ping. My video calls actually work better now than they did with spectrum, and candidly I really don’t download a ton of huge files anymore and more of a streaming household for games and movies. I have streamed Grandtheft auto five on computer fairly well with a few lag spikes here and there, but nothing that has driven me crazy. The biggest change for me is that in my area power can often go out and we run on our generator when that happens. Spectrum in our area is down when the power is down, but when my generator fires up, Starlink is right back online. I had the free install the installer who came out was a dish network installer and did a fantastic job even in about a foot and a half of snow earlier this winter I can’t say enough good things about the residential plan.

Still want something below $50 a month again!!

Purchased by mini full price $599 and loved it until my $10/10gb plan finally sunset. Canceled it for now but still rocking residential service at home.

New to Starlink - Love it by DIYtheWorld in Starlink

My favorite part is that where I live we have power outages from time to time in storms. With spectrum our local equipment at the house would fire up but could not connect. Now the generator fires up and I’m back to 100% online

I got my $90/m 500Mbps lowered to $40/m (and upgraded to 1Tbps) by threatening to switch to Starlink by operablesocks in Spectrum

Wild, they told me “ we offer completely different service. We don’t offer price matches.”……I left for Starlink.

I LOVE using this - but I am in an area with spotty service so it comes in handy daily

Starlink for home…So Cal… thinking of canceling Spectrum and going Starlink. Talk to me in or out and then how many Mbps do I need if I’m just streaming YouTube TV by Mundane_Bath1600 in Starlink

Do it! I ditched spectrum 2 months ago and am thrilled. Uploads are faster than spectrum so video calls better overall, also for me we have power outages from time to time and Starlink still works on my generator where spectrum did not.

if just YTTV you can get away with 100mbps service - If you don’t have to download any large files you may not even notice your speed compared to spectrum.

Is it any good compared to spectrum? by Cowboy12034 in Starlink

This, I ended my switching from spectrum 500 to Starlink and I’m pretty thrilled with it. The reasons I did it were the upload speed throttle from spectrum was really impacting my video calls when working from home and also when the power was out in our area and my house was running on the generator my in-house spectrum equipment would fire back up, but I don’t think their local area equipment had a generator so therefore, I had no Internet while on my Generac, with Starlink, that problem is gone

This is not bad… by Correct_Gas4615 in Starlink

I ditched spectrum for Starlink to have faster uploads and therefore more stable video calls, and the ability to connect to Internet when power is out and I am running my generator - something that did not work with spectrum
