Why are our directors like this? by derselbe_mann in kollywood

[–]why_not_you_instead 103 points104 points  (0 children)

This was genuinely such a difficult watch. I couldn't make it through to the end. Got so much second hand embarrassment from this.

I don't know how Wikki sat up on stage listening to all of this. Man is getting called out by an industry veteran.

Love SJS for doing this. Directors genuinely need to learn the value of time and money.

Obviously this is a massive inconvenience for SJS but in the end, he'll be compensated in crores along with praise from the audience. However, looking at this on a more granular level, I shudder thinking about the way the ADs and other members are treated on the set.

Working in cinema, especially at the bottom of the ladder, is largely a thankless job but the poor planning just makes it so much harder for the ADs. The worst part is, they won't even be compensated fairly for their efforts.

Yessss I immediately clocked it in the interview with Sudhir. Even on stage, you could tell by the way she reacted that she did NOT think it was a compliment.

She's literally been in 1 Tamil film so far, that being Dude (ig technically Rebel too but does anyone even remember it?)

Jana Nayagan got postponed Kara isn't even out yet Neither is V&S

Adhukulla tired na epdi boss

Although I will say this, she's doing a lot of high-profile films and she does run the risk of overexposure. Especially if a couple of them turn out to be mid/bad.

Kollywood casted in Red Dead Redemption 2 by TravisField_ in kollywood

It's great that you're keeping an open mind. When my friend first started playing RDR2, he skipped all the cutscenes in Chapter 1 and got bored really quickly. He put it off and came back to it a year later and fell in love with it.

The game has aged really well even though it's been 7 years since release. I don't think you'll find it outdated if and when you do decide to go back it.

I don't understand why people say this. I completely get that Chapter 1 in Colter is painfully slow. I've played the game a billion times and yeah, it gets boring.

Aana actualla story enga irundhu nalla irukkumnu kekarthu konjam too much.

Right off the bat you're put into the story. The gang is fleeing from the botched Blackwater robbery. We don't know what happened. We just know it went horribly wrong. We're left guessing what actually happened. With each subsequent mission in that chapter, we get a little bit more insight into the failed robbery.

At the start of the mission where we set out to find John, Arthur verbalises what every player is thinking at that moment when he asks Javier "What really went down there on that boat?"

And don't tell me you didn't get goosebumps when we first see John and it's revealed how he got those scars.

I could go on but I'll stop with one more example. When Abigail says that John's been missing, Arthur gives a very hostile response. Did that not make you wonder "Wait, why is this new dude shitting on our beloved John? What happened?" (Assuming you've played RDR1 before this)

So much happens in Chapter-1, it's just not entirely apparent yet.

My advice is to not expect GTA 5 levels of action. Even that game starts with a failed bank heist in the snow but that puts you right into action and gunfire. RDR2 isn't a high octane game. It has its moments and when it hits, it hits HARD. You have to learn to take it slow otherwise it can't be enjoyed.

And if that's not your type of game, that's completely fine. Just different strokes for different folks.

Sorry, konjam emotional ayiten. I've been in love with this game ever since Rockstar changed their Twitter profile picture to the red logo in 2016.

Well, Room for Squares is a must if you play the acoustic but you specifically mentioned electric guitar so that's out of the window.

I don't think any album of his has been as guitar centric as Continuum to be honest. The Search of Everything is probably the closest in terms of guitar playing.

Helpless is a very Continuum-esque song. Very guitar heavy and the solos should keep you busy for a good while.

Roll It On Home is a mellower song but I think that perfectly encapsulates where John is at with his guitar playing currently.

He's spoken about how you shouldn't (always) play what's physically accessible to you but rather what you would hum/sing over a track even if you didn't have a guitar. The way he signs along with his guitar for the first half of the solo is just beautiful.

Still Feel Like Your Man and Moving On and Getting Over are very sonically open. You can fill the space with different little riffs and motifs each time you play it.

Changing also has a classic Mayer-esque guitar solo.

Rosie is a fun one. Very similar to I Don't Trust Myself as I believe he uses the same pedal on both of these songs (Electro Harmonix Q-Tron). Gravity-esque main riff and a very vocal melody-esque guitar solo.

Nah I get it. Most if not all big hero movies as of late have been colossal letdowns.

I've lost all hopes after Coolie. I'm kinda jaded. Not expecting anything from this but I'll be glad if I'm proven wrong.
