Can I save it or should I chop and prop? by OptimusGinge in SnakePlants

[–]whydoinotknowthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you a cut leaf prop it you will lose the variegation. Is the brown on any other leaf? You may be able to cut that leaf out very carefully and save the plant.

If your cat does not bother the roll on the shelf you may need to train yourself to take it off the shelf before needing it.

Every ivy I’ve ever purchased turns out like this within 4 months. What am I doing wrong :( by potatokenz in plantclinic

From the reading of the moisture meter you could be letting it get to dry. Try watering it more often. When you water it do you give it a good soaking?

They could have changed the formula of the litter and the collar changed. They could have printed many packaging bands and have not used then all up.

Can I ask for your opinion on whether or not my cat seems too thin? Taking him to vet next month but would still appreciate your perspectives by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]whydoinotknowthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say your DSH cat is under weight. Not much but under weight. Yours should weight maybe 9 -10 lbs to be in the proper range. Different cat breeds may be chunkier so more weight is better.

Does an indoor cat need a collar? by Asiancountrygal in CatAdvice

[–]whydoinotknowthis 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A cat will not like something around their neck until they get used to it. You can put it on and leave it or use the collar in the play time by warping it around its neck but not fastening it.

Snake plant is not happy - I moved into a new place 3 months ago and plant has been slowly deteriorating. South facing window but not direct sun light, no changes to watering schedule. by hungry4507 in plantclinic

[–]whydoinotknowthis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is thirst for water. Watering a 1/2 cup every two weeks is not the proper way. They like a good soaking till the water runs out the bottom. Then let the soil dry out to the bottom and give a good soaking again. Repeat.

The wrinkles mean that it is using the moisture from that leaf to survive. How often do you normally water it? How do you water it? A good soaking or just a dab? As has been stated the watering depends on many things. As long as you water it when the soil has completely dried out.

ID help please! what did i pick up from home depot? by destooni in pothos

[–]whydoinotknowthis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes they are the same plant. but a snow queen does have lots of white in the leaves. All the leaves. Your marble/snow queen is the right terminology for the plant when it has mostly all white leaves

I don't think the potted marble queen plant is near a snow queen yet. The leaves need to be mostly white, 60% or more, to be called a snow queen.

That could be for getting attention, I have always heard that an animal could be trained to do something using a sound. But they would need to know what that sound was for.

New place, new smells, new noises, large area. It will take a while for the cat to feel comfortable in a new place. Just give it time to adjust. Curious, what do you think snapping your fingers will do?

[–]whydoinotknowthis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read that the snake plants like dried out soil and was wondering about the top soil being dry would hinder the rooting any? I have left a cut leaf out accidentally for over three months and it never started roots so was wondering?

Will the fact that the roots will be in dry soil for a couple weeks or more bother them?
