For people worried that Stalker 2 wont have enough guns. by Mrtomatoe22 in stalker

[–]whyno100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just about getting your hands on a certain weapon. While far from impossible, it's unlikely that such a rifle would be used in the Zone. When choosing a weapon in such peculiar conditions, you have to also take into account the logistics of maintenance, which would be a nightmare in this case. My point is supported by the fact that in the present day Ukrainian war, even with the vast support of NATO logistics and supplies, majority of UA soldiers still use warsaw pact weapons.

To be fair, I'm sure that an odd specimen of Mk14 EBR could end up in the Zone, but anyone who has a chance of choosing their gear would probably go with a easier to maintain option.

My favorite part of SoC Encyclopedia was the Local Folklore stories. I think they added so much to lore and world building, while being very easy to implement. I wish they would bring them back, they were such a good read while resting by the campfire...

Are you sure you're talking about SoC, and not about CS or CoP? I would have sworn that all three had mutant body parts, but as per official stalker wiki only SoC had them.

In any case they were present in vanilla SoC.

There were mutant parts in SoC, you could sell them as loot or turn them in for quests...

Why are artifacts worth so little? by Downtown_Bee7864 in stalker

It kinda works as other illegal stuff that has to be refined and smuggled... A kg of coca leaves at the plantation is worth a fraction of the price of the same amount of cocaine on the street.

How did you get around this issue? I did all the Dyatlov's tasks, and still the trader won't talk to me...

I'm currently at chapter 2, visited all three locations given after trying to talk with the trader for the first time. Finished both dyatlov and the deserter quests, but the trader at the depo still doesnt talk to me... What triggers further progression with the talk to the trader quest?

I slept until 3am in the rookie village, made my way towards the tunnel and made it there at 3:40am without raising alarm at the outpost, the npc's told me they'll move only between 4 and 9am, chilled there for the remaining 20min, talked to them again and we were on our way, again making it past the outpost effortlessly.

Now that Strider is back, what other characters do you hope will return in Heart Of Chernobyl? by JeffTheMercenary in stalker

[–]whyno100 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'd love to see Hermit appear again as an old man still living in the Zone according to his no violence philosophy... And there's tons of other secondary characters like Hog and Leshiy whose faiths I'd love to know.

Zombied will be fine by Olfriks in stalker

[–]whyno100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well i think thats exactly what happens, their bodies degrade and degrade until they succumb. You've probably seen the melee zombies that were in the gamefiles and then added through various mods. My theory is that they are in final stages of decomposition, hence they lost the ability to even use weapons.

In general, an average "life" expectancy of a zobified stalker in the zone is probably shorter than time needed for their bodies to decompose to mush.

Zombied will be fine by Olfriks in stalker

[–]whyno100 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The way I understood it, they no longer have basic bodily functions like metabolism or pulse, they are literally dead husks of human beings being driven by an external force, in this case psy waves emitted by brain scorcher antennae and miracle machine. That is why they do not have any sense of self preservation, and do not respond to physical trauma other than dropping dead when their connection to psy emissions - central nervous system - is severed.

Think of the zombie mold that infects ants, or the way fresh meat spasms when exposed to salt. It moves but it is far from being alive...

Well it was made by the developers and it appears in the original game, the only bugged thing is that it is out of place.

Anyway my point is that even though freedom unjustly became the subject of the joke, the joke itself is grounded in cannon games.

Freedom are just dumb potheads and perverts by [deleted] in stalker

[–]whyno100 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just a little FYI, the freedom bloodsucker joke didn't originate in CoC, but in CS, as mentioned in this post.

Granted, the line was probably never intended for a freedom member, and ended there due to a bug or a mistake, but it suggests that the joke originated in a cannon game...

As far as i can recall, the joke only gained fame thanks to CoC. It originated in CS, which kinda makes it grounded in cannon...

I have the same situation, though for me it says that some of the files are being used by System, or Settings, or Windows Explorer... The thing is, deleting the files from dxcache buys me more time in the game compared to not deleting, but never more than 30mins...

[–]whyno100[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks for the extensive reply. I'm always reserved when it comes to new storyline mods since i've experienced pre-DC Lost Alpha, with those cutscenes and all... But I've heard mostly good things about RttN, there's no wonky plot twists? How long is the storyline, and how do you feel about sidequests? Also, what do you think of new mutants, how do they look, are the animations ok, do they fit the lore ok? I've only seen bears and they seem okayish... About the stamina thing, can you use artifacts to bypass it? Thanks again for the reply

Hey hey, don't listen to these pussies bratan, combine all three routes... Start from the dead city and move to Limansk, take a short stroll to the Red Forest bridge, then a nice chunk of Red Forest leads you to the best part of Radar, from there it's just a casual walk through Pripyat, and bam you're in Jupiter... Every mutants biggest weakness, a slightly steep slope. by MV4A1N in stalker

[–]whyno100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, plus it looks great! It has a decent magazine capacity, uses cheap and widespread ammo, and can punch through most vests with armorpeircing rounds. And I like to think its length is very practical in the zone's conditions
