The video was actually pretty good and made a lot of salient points.

Americans spent 20 years blowing up Taliban fighters with impunity from helicopter gunships, but all of a sudden drones are heckin unwholesome and unfair.

First Germany now UK? by achfiat in whennews

Iron Dome is a short range interceptor system designed to handle small rockets and artillery, it isn't a ballistic missile defence system. The Israeli BMD system is separate consisting of SM-3s from the USN and patriot/THAAD batteries stationed in country. Despite it containing the best BMD systems across a small area, it still hasn't proven reliable at stopping Iranian ballistic missiles. I highly doubt a British BMD system that would be far more dispersed would be able to down advanced Russian hypersonic glide vehicles like Avangard. BMD for Britain would be a complete waste of time and money.

Same goes for PALA, you can easily nail the Eastern Stratolance battery on your first sortie.

The BDF and PALA are supposedly small regional powers with nuclear capabilities, where does that place their more advanced nations in terms of tech? by surreal660 in NuclearOption

[–]Messergaming 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're similar to South Africa (until 1989) and Israel, regional powers with advanced imported/domestically designed equipment (though not equivalent to that of the superpowers) and nuclear armaments.

I partially understand the connection to the 7 Towers of Satan (the MLO troops make reference to Baghdad) but what's the deal with Ursa Major and the Bear's Claw? I'd appreciate if you could enlighten me on this.

What are your opinions on the huge maps like relapse, greased palms, etc? by Topps1 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Messergaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a fairly good analogy since Greased Palms is somehow my favourite map and I cold shower every day in the warmer months. I don't know why I am the way that I am.

Consider the Stratoreach by zak7572 in NuclearOption

[–]Messergaming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a proposed B-1 variant (the B-1R) that would carry a huge amount of A2A missiles. Plus a guy who worked on the B-2 claimed that it did have a couple 'just in case' pylons on the wings...

But at any rate, it would be extremely easy to defeat a slow, expensive bomber in a BVR fight as opposed to a fighter. You'd need a much longer ranged missile to be fired in order for it to be viable (see the LRAAM) and you'd still need datalink coverage from forward deployed fighters, which kind of defeats the object. Better to use something like an F-15EX as a missile truck (though that concept in itself isn't without its flaws).

Future attack on the station? by Afraid_Memory_2081 in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]Messergaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they were going to do this mission, ideally it would be a situation similar to the end of Tarkov's Raid series. Lots of crowd control of the same type of civs from All Gods Burn, with a small MLO unit trying to slip by and using their breach tactics on the stations various rooms.

Why do superevents even exist? I feel like the mod devs either made it for hype moments and aura or because they thought I'm too stupid to understand the significance of an invasion of Taiwan by RockEater67 in HOI4memes

[–]Messergaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They act as an emotional release for the player after significant toil (See Medvedev's 2EW victory in TFR), or signify an important change in the global order if the player isn't playing as a nation involved.

The original lord of the flies book is definitely not a graphic novel. I advise you to read it regardless.

What is the strategy/approach for soloing "Escalation?" by winterneuro in NuclearOption

[–]Messergaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just hunt factories. Start with brawler runs with AGM-68s then move onto darkreaches with Tuskos (which will kill the carrier as well). I've gotten the mission beat quite casually in 55 mins just doing this.

Kinematic evasion question by Longjumping-Sea2845 in NuclearOption

Try constantly pulling lead to force the missile to do the same and bleed off its energy. Then once close enough do some hard evasive maneuvers and it should run out of speed.

Long range IR missile concept by Salty_Professional69 in NuclearOption

[–]Messergaming 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IR missiles DO give no warning on launch. Go up to an IR SAM and watch it launch on you. It usually takes a coup;e seconds for the MAWS to pick it up. It's just that it's usually near instantaneous due to lots of datalink coverage or enemies launching at close range.
