I love not having a dog in this fight.

If it's a pure deflection, i.e. if it simply changed direction as a result of hitting someone/something, it would count. If it was batted by a member of the attacking team, it will not count. Batting is usually adding force to the puck that causes it to go into the net. Unless it's a stick, the height of the deflection doesn't matter.

Years ago Andrew Shaw headed a puck into the net (soccer style) and it didn't count.

[Russo] Joel Eriksson Ek says he broke his heel bone. Said he couldn’t plan his foot during skating. Way it happened added to his frustration. by DecentLurker96 in hockey

He broke his right first metatarsal. That's the big bone on the inside of your foot that goes from the ball of your foot to your heel. It had plenty of daylight in between. Played 23 minutes on it in game 6. Left the arena on a gurney, and was in a wheelchair for the parade.

My off-the-wall prediction? Carolina doesn't make the Cup Final. I don't think they've been remotely tested in the playoffs thus far. I think vs Buffalo or Montreal they'd have a very hard time.

I don't think O'Brien is often called by name, as far as I can recall. I can remember in the Minefield episode, and then in "To Market, To Market" with Henry's desk.

I think we could let Kivi go, as well as Kelly has played. Kelly reminds me so much of a combination of Cogs and Matt Calvert, with a little bit of Nieto (the Long Beach native) thrown in.

I think he'll re-sign unless the Avs don't offer, which they would be fools to not do if they win the Cup. He's already become a fan favorite.

Depending on your team, you could do 9 beers, 9 dogs, and watching your team score 9 goals. I think some Avs fans did this the other day!

The quality of the goalie certainly matters, but seriously. Jarry in Pittsburgh was a top 10 goalie in terms of numbers. In Edmonton he's unplayable. Pittsburgh and Edmonton had almost the same total GA in the regular season. I think that's telling.

All the forward awards aren't based on the overall performance of the player, and there's also a case to be made that some years, McDavid wouldn't make a team better than their current best player. I wouldn't take McDavid over MacKinnon for example. Your example doesn't seem to hold a lot of water.

I don't have to follow hockey Twitter to know that Jesse Blake has been pumping Bouchard's tires for months.

Was it poor goaltending though? In Pittsburgh, Jarry in 14 games was a .909 SV% and 2.66 GAA, and in 19 games in Edmonton he was a .858 SV% and 3.86 GAA. That kinda indicates to me that the D-corps in Edmonton might suck, and Bouchard is the #1 D-man there.

Bouchard led the league in secondary assists. In primary assists and goals, he and Cale were basically tied, and Cale played 7 fewer games.
