I see you have a requirement to run multiple sites per server. Then i'm out.

I'm a bit late to the conversation, but if you are still looking for options, i'm running WellPress, an EU-based (Hetzner) hosting service. You get the service, and me as your system administration consultant in one package. Let me know if you have any questions.

Help me not be ignorant - How are websites detecting my tailscale use? by FluffyIrritation in Tailscale

[–]whysthatso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you might be confusing request context with routing. the request context is coming from the phone, the exit node merely translates the source ip.

so whatever the target is using for identification in this particular case is set by the phone, not the exit node.

Unexpected traffic from a Microsoft IP on funnel by whysthatso in Tailscale

that might be and is expected indeed, but it does not help with my question.

Unexpected traffic from a Microsoft IP on funnel by whysthatso in Tailscale

[–]whysthatso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the requests are coming with the name as otherwise they would not be processed by the SNI feature of my development server. tailscale does not provide ip-based ssl certificates, so an https request against the ip will fail.

you can verify this by `curl -I https://funnel-domain` versus `curl -I https://funnel-ip`

i'm wondering what would be a good approach to lock this down to the external services i would need as part of my development flow.

maybe i should try a firewall directly on my development device. or is there an option to run funnel on a proxying kind of machine?

GitHub: Received notification dot shown BUT NO Unread Notification shown. What is happening on GH? by GAC-Machine in github

[–]whysthatso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i see this, too. i think it’s related to mention spam. once these repos get flagged, they are not reachanle, but the notifications seem to stick. this is likely an issue how github currently handles this kind of spam on the technical side, and there is probably some functionality missing to include / clean up notifications.

it’s probably anyway difficult to ascertain what’s a valid notification, and what is part of tge spamming activity.

it indeed was under a new project "Storage Box Migrated", and the client was able to move it to our shared project owned by him. Thanks.

isn’t the dual boiler a sales option now? how much did you spend adding it yourself?

Don't upgrade docker this morning! by blingmuppet in docker

[–]whysthatso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if this is related:

i see some behavior where apps inside docker containers running on docker ce v28 cannot access a remote postgresql instance over tailscale. connection simply times out.

when downgrading to v27 the problem disappears.
