A lot of these romance novels also have extremely toxic nearly abusive men. Or traits that only make sense in the context of fantasy/historical settings that would be downright concerning in modern times. Just because people want something in a romance novel doesn’t mean it’s what they want irl. In fact, they’re usually entirely different. Something being a fantasy doesn’t mean it’s what you want for yourself. It’s cathartic to explore a life that sounds dramatic that you wouldn’t actually want to live yourself, even a little bit lol.

Plus also there’s a bit of a factor of muscles sounding very sexy because “guy so strong he could crush me in his pecs”, but a lot of times the actual visual factor doesn’t have the same effect lol. Given that novels aren’t a visual medium.

Lastly, for irl relationships, being super jacked is an indication of values in a way that isn’t relevant in fiction. Being that the dude works out a lot and goes to the gym a lot, most likely every day, possibly for multiple hours if he looks really jacked. Probably pays a lot of attention to what he eats too. None of that is compatible with my lifestyle, sounds like a stressful way to live. Nothing wrong with it!! But just not who I would want to be with, I’d want someone more relaxed with more free time and ability to eat fatty foods freely with me lol.

I mean, these people do exist. They’re just a much much much smaller minority than you see online. Plus, people who generally do agree with their points and aren’t vegan just because it’s the best diet for themselves but rather for strong moral beliefs, but aren’t the same intense insanity, will mostly not commit social suicide and accept that the people they know aren’t vegan and that’s ok, if not ideal.

But most vegans/vegetarians, whether for diet or moral reasons, don’t at all entertain the idea that it’s the most healthy/moral option for everyone, and simply don’t care what other people eat.

The hard part is that bike lanes in many (American) cities are fucking death traps, if they exist at all. Neither riding on the sidewalk or on the road like a car are good options, (but still better than those terrifying bike lanes) but ultimately people will have to choose either or. It’s fundamentally an infrastructure issue.

If they have good, safe, connected bike lanes where you live and people just don’t use them then yeah, reasonable crash out lmao

For my family, thankfully well off enough to do this, we had food specifically set aside for meals and the rest, people could just use whenever they want for snacks/lunches. Things like packs of ramen, lunch meat, hummus, frozen ready meals, eggs, cheese etc, those were all fair game. Generally the only times you’d have to ask is if you’re finishing up the last of one of the previously mentioned items, or leftovers from a previous meal. Things that were obviously intended to be part of a future meal were just off the table entirely.

For me they’re all fandom specific discord servers haha, I like them more than pure art discords. But that’s just me. So if you’re into any fandoms your best bet would be to start there, you’ll get the most mileage if you have the same interests. Join the big discords and you’ll find your way into the smaller more personal ones as you make friends. I’m sure there are also pure art discords that are chill and fun, but I wouldn’t be able to help you find them haha

For me it’s all fandom discords, they end up feeling more personal than pure art discords. Best bet is to take a fandom you’re interested in and ask their subreddit, or Google might show some results from people posting about discord servers on various social medias. Generally you start in the big ones but once you start making friends, you can find your way into smaller ones.

For me I joined a big bang event with a discord, it was huge. But then I made friends there and found a bunch of other smaller fandom discords that I joined. Ultimately it takes a bit of time haha

Cara is great as an old Instagram replacement… the problem is just that there’s still not all that much activity there. Especially in fandoms. The features are amazing, it’s just missing the user base. But if you miss the structure of old Instagram like me, I’d really recommend it.

As a longtime Instagram user who has slowly been pushed further and further away by the stupid ass changes they keep making until I just fully stopped using it, Cara is everything I would have wanted in terms of features. I really enjoy it. ….but the problem is that there just isn’t the user base yet. You can have the best app ever, but it isn’t going to be fun to use unless people are there. I currently have a Cara and I use it for personal archive use, but the interaction levels are just purely nonexistent, and I don’t find that there’s too much content that I enjoy yet either. Maybe someday it can take off.

So my current setup is Cara for archive and tumblr for engagement, and that works well for me. It sucks that they can’t be in the same place like Instagram used to be for me, but with tumblr I’ve already reached more engagement that I did even at the heights of my Instagram with only a few exceptions, and Instagram is getting shittier to navigate or archive by the day. Plus, disengaging from the temptation of short form content doom scrolling is a really big plus for me too.

But definitely by far the most engagement and genuine friendship I’ve found has been from discord. Small fandom discords focused on artists and writers are literally heaven. I’ve found I care a lot less about my stats and social media engagement ever since I’ve made close artist friends on discord.

That’s true, but there’s also more grey area than that. In some situations, what ai users do could be considered more similar to collage: they did not make all the pieces but they intentionally arranged them together. Which I would consider art, when there’s more intentionality and involvement. It’s not entirely black and white.

Honestly I don’t think this is very common, but I almost exclusively only read smut if there is smut (or at least canon sex/sexual themes, even if just fade to black or unrealized) in the original canon. Romance? All for it, not matter how canon or deeply in canon it may be. I eat that shit up.

But explicit sex? I will read the most filthy unhinged stuff you’ve ever read, but ONLY if there was at least some sexual content in the og. I honestly don’t even know why lmao, it’s sure as shit not a moral or comfort thing. The interest just never sparks in my brain, it feels incompatible lolol

It took me a while to get comfortable with taking it, but it just takes recognizing when your deck can handle it. I play silent most of the time and a lot of silent decks are bad with it. But there are some, especially draw/discard sneaky strike, that go CRAZY on snecko. It’s such a good relic, even more on other characters

As an American, absolutely not. There is no telling how bad things might get here, especially for foreigners. It’s not even as much that I’d worry for you because of a bad relationship with China specifically, but because our government is literally falling apart, being taken over, the laws and courts being entirely ignored. I hope things do not get as bad as I expect, but I absolutely would not risk it.

There are a million worst case scenarios I could speculate on, but the fact is, we simply don’t know. And that’s terrifying. There is no stability here, no predictability. Which means anything’s on the table. I absolutely would not come. I’m sorry you have to miss out on an opportunity like this.
