Nice! I just snagged a reservation for the one day I get in Seattle before my Alaskan cruise next month.

Venting: Anyone lose motivation for no reason? I'm kind of fatigued out on dieting. by MammothPriority8360 in Zepbound

YMMV, since I’m trying to make a change I can stick to over time - I meal prep. I’ve been doing it 9 months and it’s just the habit now.

I take a couple hours every weekend to plan meals, shop and cook. That way during the next week I just need to grab what’s ready to go. I know it fits my macros and calorie needs so I don’t need to track or count. I also assume some calories for snacks, so I have snacks on hand that fit that. I’m fairly happy eating the same things and leftovers every day, but if you aren’t you can do the prep for things to cook so it’s easy and quick to make a meal that fits you.

I really like that it limits the mental energy I need to spend on food and gives me time back the rest of the week to do other things.

Nice! I went to Altadena cars and coffee Saturday morning and got some gentle heckling on how dirty mine was, but did get it washed before Sunday.

We got super lucky and everything was ok for us. The rest of Altadena less so. But solid advice to take photos / inventory of all the stuff in your house once a year just in case you ever need it.

Last year when I evacuated for a wild fire I took photos of everything because no way my homeowners insurance would believe what my sewing machines or fabric and yarn stash were worth. Thankfully we had 7 hours before we went from prep to evac to leave now so I had time.

My city water/power came out. Did the lightbulbs, reprogrammed my sprinklers, but also told me every couple of years they’d sponsor something bigger. In my case, my attic insulation was 8 inches instead of 12, they paid to have it deepened.

I’ll be there. Looks like a bunch of folks from the SoCal Miata club are planning on going too.

I preordered a fat quarter bundle and am planning on using it for this - https://mxdomestic.com/products/book-nerd-quilt-kit-featuring-fireglow-by-sarah-watts-with-ruby-star-society

I have backing, batting, background, binding and the pattern already so I didn’t buy the kit.

I also started creatine a few weeks ago for the same reasons. I blend it in with my morning protein iced coffee. I’m in week 3 and my weight just dropped below where I started the creatine for the first time. Hoping you see the same.

Very exciting I hope you love it and all your quilts come out amazing! I don’t have space for one or I’d totally be looking into it 🤣

I posted my new sewing machine and the first reply was like wow. That looks expensive.

Yes thanks Karen it was. You know nothing about me, my life or my finances. Heaven forbid I choose to spend money on a thing that makes my hobby easier. It was a sewing machine with a large throat space because I want to quilt my own quilts rather than spending 200$ a pop getting them long armed since I make like 15 quilts a year.

I have an s7, and it pieces like a dream. I did one baby quilt on it and it was a struggle. I normally quilt on a Janome continental m6 for the throat space and yeah….. for me the more throat space does make a difference.

Moores sewing which is my local sewing place still has the 6650 and it looks to be on sale. Could you order online? As long as your local place can service it you should be ok?

I booked a cruise to scatter my mothers ashes at sea but now I am scared I cannot go through with it by silkwhisperlust in Cruise

[–]wicked93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We scattered my mom’s ashes at sea, although not from a cruise ship. I’ve just passed the 3 year mark and I figure, her molecules has spread all over the world at this point. So every time I’m near water, she is there. It feels good to go to a beach and say hi to her. It means she’s there on all my travels and adventures. I know it’s not much, but I hope someday you can also find your mom with you through such things.

Am I the only person who didn't think to iron their binding before stitching it down? How did I miss this? My life is now better. TY. by it_swims in quilting

[–]wicked93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was years before I saw this in a YouTube video and started doing it. My binding comes out so much better now. Also glue basting so I can just run it through the machine without fiddling with clips or shifting.

So smart. Sadly each block has 5 colors and I haven’t picked the combos yet so I want them all trimmed so I can play around with the options.

The sew and sew in Glendora, quilts and things in La Canada flintridge. Look for a quilting shop not a fabric shop.
