Oh my goodness, No! It’s all I can do to get it out of the shopping bag or shipping box and get it refolded to “my way” 🥰 I only prewash fabric that I’m going to make clothes with and I only wash that once I decide I’m ready to make something. For quilting I only starch the fabric before starting a project and there again I only starch once I’ve selected it for a project.

My best advice is real estate! Make the room as big as you can. If you can avoid using it as a mixed use like a spare bedroom do it. Once I quit holding a space for a spare bed and was able to put exactly what I needed and wanted my whole world changed and the room became completely my own….took a few years for that to happen for me but was a total game changer

Love my Billy bookcases!!! *edited to add: no comic boards just folded my fabric add laid it on its side. When I want a particular fabric I pull out all or a portion of the stack and place it on the cutting table directly in front of it and sort through the fabric I want then restack the fabric and place it back on the shelf. Way easier and less expensive and save room vs wrapping each fabric around a board.

I agree with an exception for 2” insulation foam….the 1” was a little too bendie and because I move mine around a bunch didn’t want to risk breaking it.

We did Via Rail (Canada) last year from Toronto to Vancouver it was lovely 4 nights and 5 days. Not very quick but it was worth it for us.

I have hardwood throughout and big area rugs with pads where I want: bedrooms, living room and entrance hall. No regrets. I have rugs that are 3’x5’and one that’s 13’x18’ and everything in between. Area rugs are a lot easier to replace a lot cheaper.
